We have 5 DR98's in the family, and love them. I've been curious about other rackets (eg Nadal's, etc), but never really been tempted. What I like about the DR is that, when combined with a dampener, it gives such a nice thud to the sound and feel of the ball. Feel is so important, and I've never had another racket that feels quite as good. And this is from someone who is now 50 years old, and who has played since he was 7.

Hello, I absolutely love your videos, very interesting and useful and learning lots about rackets thank you! Could you please compare Yonex Ezone 100 vs any of Yonex Vcore. I played and absolutely loved Yonex pro RD long, then tried Yonex pro RD - Ti which didn’t work for me and I don’t know why, then I tried one of the Head rackets which was just ok for me but didn’t feel as I wanted. Currently playing with Wilson Six One 95 spin effect. Willing to switch back to Yonex rackets. Was trying to find something similar to Yonex pro RD long however no luck with that so far. I am intermediate however pretty powerful player and always loved thin beams. Exception was Wilson six one spin effect which I actually love, I love the feel of the racket even if lots of people say it is difficult to play racket. Any ideas which could be similar to Yonex Pro Rd long?Many thanks in advance. Kristina.

couldn’t disagree more. i can see how the dr might be more forgiving for more beginner/intermediate players, but i felt it was way too flimsy and muted the feel. i liked that the 5th gen is way stiffer-much better feel and crispness. and that it was itself a return to the ezone xi, which i thought was way better than the dr. 5th gen and xi are certainly a little harder to play with, but if you hit with proper mechanics, they reward you with a much better ball. imho
@nathanielsnyder73963 жыл бұрын

To all ai and dr lovers, I concur with you. Hands down the best. I’ve been playing with head Wilson babolats over the last 20 years and the feel can’t compare with these sticks. Tbh I gave up on my first ai98 as it played like crap. After a year I picked it up again and restrung with lower tension after reading what other players are doing to it. And OMG that stick came alive ! The feel, dampening, and ball strike is just top notch, and the made in Japan quality control is second to none. I went out and bought 5 other sticks including the dr from other players who gave up on the stick and paid like 50bucks per stick. Of course I didn’t tell them they strung it wrong in the first place 😉 my fav is still the ai, at 48 pounds with textured string like the dual rpm or gosen sidewinder.... if you are looking to buy new , it’s much cheaper in SE Asia, and nowhere near $200 retail. Don’t say I didn’t mention this 👍

Hi. I watch your videos and I love your style of reviews. I had a small concern. I play top spin with a Continental grip on bevel 1. I earlier used a vcore pro 100, 2020 which weighed 285 GM's. Y I upgraded to ezone 100 , 2021, Naomi Osaka white racket which weighs 325 GM's. The gut remaining the same babolat rpm blast rough at 54 lbs tension. I find that the new ezone is very stiff and I am unable to play top spin and it's more of a flat stroke suitable racket. Please suggest if I can try something. I tried fixing lead weights on the top of the racket to reduce tennis elbow. Your suggestion to guide me to salvage my game to earlier top spin will be highly appreciated. The ezone feels very stiff and hard and provides no scope to play top spin. 🙏

@@viper1vols I have reverted to my vcore pro 100. It's light and great for top spin on flat grip. The ezone gives me a tennis elbow, probably the weight isn't supportive of the stroke. I haven't felt the need to upgrade to the latest model, my racket is 2020 model. It's a great match for me.

What strings would you recommend for the Yonex EZONE 100L 285g for a beginner/intermediate player? I currently play a Wilson Clash 100 295g with Luxilon Smart strings and lack a bit of feel and feedback so I’m struggling a little bit with adapting my swing, causing the ball to go too deep too often, or in the net on light volleys. Thinking about trying this racket instead. Thanks!
@TennisSpin4 жыл бұрын
When you play, make sure you swing through on every shot and accelerate through the ball. I know this is counterintuitive but trust me, you will be a better player for it. The more your ball goes long, the faster you should swing. You are catching the ball too square when you slow your swing down therefore causing it to fly. Don't grip the racket so tight. I like the Ezone 100L as a last resort for you. I may do a video on this. Thanks for watching!
@dimep.72324 жыл бұрын
Hi Benjamin, I'm an intermediate player and I've recently bought the Ezone 100L to replace my Pure Drive Team (previous generation). I find the Ezone 100L powerful and quite firm/stiff so I prefer putting a soft and control string in this frame such as Head Velocity MLT. Personally I don't recommend you to put full bed of poly in this lighter racquet or you may have some arm injuries. If you're used to play with polyester string try a hybrid setup but never full bed of poly. Try Head Velocity 16G at around 53 pounds and see how it works for you. One of my friend and I also play with a Duramix 15L (max 53 pounds or lower) in this racquet and it suits her like a charm for a versatile option ;-). Hope it would help 👍

Philipp Hörtnagl the beam is thicker in the 100 and made for those who want a little more power. I love the 98 but it’s made for different player than a 100. Yonex rackets are made for flex and feel so I would believe they do play lower than the RA numbers. Thanks for watching.
