At 13:55 why does it go to deuce? It was advantage for Borges and Garin put the ball out and Borges should have won the point or am I wrong?
@jurrepos18 сағат бұрын
I cannot fathom how Borges could lose that point, the umpire didn't even consider a replay. That was the least he could do. That was a big blunder from the umpire. He assumed Borges gave up the point because of his inactive posture but that was very bad assumption because Garin never challenged point after the out call from the spectator, he just continued playing. Garin missed the next shot maybe because of the confusing situation but that was his own mistake, Borges wasn't at fault. Garin got rewarded for his mistake, so poor sportmanship from him and the umpire should go back refereeing ITF matches.
@Morning-Yogurt16 сағат бұрын
There was no out call on the last shot. So CU thought it was in.
@sciencelover758216 сағат бұрын
well that's kind of what they were arguing about...during the rally garin hit a shot on the baseline but some spectator from the stands called it out (not a line umpire), Garin put the ball out but he talked to the umpire saying it was hinderance so he decided to give the point to Garin...even though if it was hinderance the point should be replayed at MAXIMUM...even then honestly it should be game Borges as hinderance from spectators don't count as an actual hinderance in the rules

The Felix-Draper match call was the worst call I've seen in 40+ years of watching tennis. Draper knew it was a shank and even laughed because he couldn't believe they called it in his favor. Very bad sportsmanship from Draper. We all know when we've shanked it, plus from a physics standpoint, it would be impossible for that ball to have topspin like it did when it came over.

What Nishioka doesn’t realize is that despite what he thinks of himself, they are entertainers. People come to watch matches for entertainment. With that lack of effort at the end, they should be penalized heavily, if not suspended from matches. If you don’t want to entertain the crowd and give them what they paid to watch, go do something else, like teach preschoolers tennis.

The commentators and the comments below are completely missing the point on the Borges call. The rule says that if you stop playing then you immediately lose the point. The umpire looked at Borges at 13:54 and judged that he stopped playing. It's completely irrelevant whether Garin's shot was in or out: the point was already over as soon as Borges stopped. Now, one could argue that Borges didn't stop playing, but it's certainly not straightforward. It's a tough call.
@shortyrags4 сағат бұрын
Garin is the one who called hindrance. Borges is allowed to stop in that case. It's not a tough call.
@FAonYoutube3 сағат бұрын
@@shortyrags Sorry but you're missing the point as well. The alleged stop of play by Borges came BEFORE Garin said anything (again: 13:55).

I don't know a lot about tennis but why in the world would you need to apologize for hitting the ball towards the opponent? Aren't these people playing for a lot of money? If you are trying to win the point and hitting the ball in the direction of the opponent helps to ensure that win, why are we apologizing for it? And why is an apology expected? It's a green furry hollow ball, not a grenade.
@halflink14 сағат бұрын
It's obvious that you don't know a lot about tennis. You clearly have never been hit by this green furry hollow ball as you called it, flying at you at speed (especially the one which pros can generate). It can do a lot of damage. Check out Shapovalov default at the Davis Cup or Djokovic default at the US Open as two recent examples. On the other note, tennis has always been the game where respect for the opponent is part of the code. Hitting an opponent with a ball deliberately is highly disrespectful. It does happen, but very rarely. Where it is not deliberate, the player should apologise. For the examples of deliberate hits (and lack of apology), I refer you to this video of Federer vs Djokovic kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX3PgpaFg7Cnepo
@robp.77698 сағат бұрын
@@halflink Yeah, I'll never follow this logic. This isn't Gretta and Karen playing a match for mimosas and lobster rolls on the veranda at the country club, these are professional athletes playing for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The fact that one is expected to apologize for trying to win the game is SOFT, and the fact that it's acceptable for another player to whine and moan like a child because they didn't get an apology is just sad. Might as well just hand out participation trophies and underhand volley to each other for a couple hours.

@@robp.7769tennis isn’t soft, it’s respectful. Unlike football and basketball.
@robp.77696 сағат бұрын
@@helloilmaketennisedits I can understand apologizing if you interrupt the other player's shot or cheat in the game. The entire point is to return the shot in bounds and in a way that the other player can not hit a return. The idea that one is expected to apologize for doing so, and that's it's somehow permissible for another player to whine and cry like a small child because he didn't get an apology, is the definition of soft. If he doesn't want the ball hit near him, he shouldn't approach the net.
