He's not out there to fulfil your dreams. He's said many times already that he's more than happy with the career he had considering where he came from and how impossible it seemed to him to reach the top 10 players of the world ranking growing up.

He won 3 ATP 500, and 9 atp 250. He reached some tap 1000 finals and some gran slams quarters/semi finals. It was not a waste of potential because the manner he played was the best way to put his opponents into a difficult position. He did what he had to do, and he did better than a lot of top 10 players without winning every tournament.
