Those puzzled by TP’s loss aren’t paying attention to the subtleties of the game. There’s sub specialties in the offensive baseline game: 1) powerful shotmaking like alcaraz or sinner, 2) wrong footing precision like TP and mannarino, and 3) unyielding defense like djokovic and de Minaur. Mannarino is simply better at wrong footing than TP despite the disparity in rank and TP’s power or defense aren’t enough to make up for it.

KZbin analyst: By using a special bracelet, he is able to distract Tommy Paul for exactly 0.011 seconds, then he will aim exactly 17 centimeters from the baseline in order to make Tommy Paul's second moment of inertia make him 0.27 meters too far from the ball God Mannarino: *Makey opponent run good good*
@chrisparker12626 күн бұрын
@@JiraiyaSama86 I'd agree thats part of the equation. TP can hit the ball of its cover, AM is left handed, back hand flat to forehand is no fun for TP's FH so he could never get AM off balance to start dictating enough.

After his exceptional (for him) 2023 season, culminating in his victory over Ben Shelton in the third round of the Australian Open, Mannarino had a catastrophic 2024 season, losing almost all his matches and 40 places in the rankings. That's why I was so surprised to see him scheduled for a night session in Paris, when he's lost all his confidence and Ugo Humbert was playing on the same day. He proved the organizers right! To all of you guys that are confused about how Tommy Paul lost, here’s my take on it: 1. Mannarino was playing really well through the first set, pulling out good angles and pouncing on 2nd serve returns. He also served well to be able to back up the breaks 2. Tommy was making a lot more unforced errors than usual 3. To me, it felt like Tommy was having troubles reading where Mannarino was going to hit. Either that or Mannarino was just too good at moving Tommy around the court
@TimelyAdventure27 күн бұрын
It's a good matchup for Mannarino, who tends to play best against aggressive players, using their pace against them. I think one has to pick their shots a bit more carefully as it seems Mannarino thrives off pace, but doesn't do as well when someone slices and loops it up, because he has more trouble generating his own pace.
@a_goblue202327 күн бұрын
Also playing mannarino indoors must be a nightmare, he already doesn’t hit with any spin all flat shots and indoors the ball just skids off the court. Perfect conditions for a player like Mannarino, prolly worst conditions for TP who likes to grind out points

Lol no. It's not because Adrian beats Paul that Paul must be tired. Mannarino was ranked 17 not long ago. Plus Mannarino's game is strongest on faster surfaces like here.
