I was lucky to play this kid in Killara, Sydney Australia, he offered to warm up with me when I went to my local court for serve practice, he had just finished giving a kid a tennis lesson earning some extra coin from some local rich parents so he can afford to eat. We had a few good rallies and he schooled me of course doing a few jumping forehands like in your video. Super nice guy I wish him the best !

Christian Didier Chin was a rare prodigy during his junior years. Back in 2014-2018, he was Malaysia No 1 player and achieved an ITF Junior ranking of no. 44 in the world. He has even beaten the current world no. 6 player Alex De Minaur from Australia during his junior days!! Sadly, lack of funding and support from the Malaysian government hindered his progress as tennis is not a core sport in that country (unlike badminton). It's a waste of pure talent as all the coaches that knew him have said the same thing about him, that Christian has the fastest legs they have ever seen!! He could have gone very-very far should he had received proper funding and a proper team (coaches, physio, psychologist etc) to help along the way. He said in this video that tennis is a lonely sport, because he used to travel alone during his junior tour days. I hope he continues to stay strong and probably be like Karue Sell someday (another KZbinr - Turning Pro at 30). He is still young, only 24yo this year, it's not too late. Go Christian!! Ps* Christian is no more Malaysia's no. 1 for few years now, the current Malaysia no 1 is Mitsuki Leong Weng Kang, who is ranked world no 700+ in men's ATP. Would love to see Christian be back in form to challenge Mitsuki some day.

I grew up around the same area as Christian and used to dread seeing his name in tournament draws whenever I signed up. It was basically a given that he would win anytime he entered local tournaments and was a real prodigy. Truly sad he was limited by other factors and not able to reach his true potential.

I use the same mics to record and it's likely that they were recording in Stereo (Left and Right). The final edit didn't double up the audio tracks properly to output to a mono signal (both sides). As far as I know he would have to re-upload the entire video with that change. Unsure if KZbin studio offers that capability after the fact.

Christian nvr had a fair chance to develop to his full potential just because he is from Malaysia. Tennis could not compete with the main core racket sports in Malaysia which are badminton and squash. The tennis scene in Malaysia is definately worse than the other South East Asian countries. Same bunch of folks in the association year after year, not bringing any good to the sports. Poor grassroot development program. There are a lot of tennis players but not enough of courts. Most courts are in bad condition and the growth of pickleball scenes, did not improve situation.

Tennis is an expensive sport if you do not have sponsorship. Tennis doesnt have enough commercial value in Malaysia. Unlike in the US or Europe, population that play tennis is more, which create economic sense for companies to sponsor. But recently alot of international tennis academy open up their branches in Asia such as Patrick Mourataglou in KL to scout talents. Players need to go out to seek for funding or sponsorship. Rafa Academy also taking alot of Asian players nowadays (paid or sponsorship). Good Luck for Christian.

Not all european countries have good government development programs. Aside from UK, Spain and France, tennis isnt a popular pro sport, and definitely very expensive and not worth it to pursue for us either. Please dont think the West is better than Asia in this aspect.

Wow. He's only 23, and sounds like he had to semi retire because of funding. That's really not good from the Malaysian govt. Come on man, how much fund do you need for a tennis player?
