The sun’s azimuth at rise and set should vary from north to south of east and west across the year. What makes the southern hemisphere unique is that it holds a region that is both outside the tropics but unlike the far north makes very different predictions if flat vs globe. So for example this time of year, sun set is SW for everyone, northerners and southerners. But if you squint enough you might make the argument that for northerners since the sun is south of their position it’s somehow not immediately impossible on a fe. However, if you’re south of the tropics, the sun is never south of you. Ever. It is categorically impossible for its azimuth to be anywhere near S.

I'm not sure why we are, though. As a scientist, my first reaction to the fact there were REALLY people who believed in a flat earth - and were not just being silly - was pure incredulity. But there is no contract between MCToon and Witless and Jean. The contracts are between Will and them. There lies the problem. This has put Will in a bad situation. He did everything he could to get Jeran to go. That included paying for Witless to go AND have contracts for their “safety,” in all matters. And I think it did include not being filmed. As a meteorologist for the past 44+ years, forecasting tropical cyclones worldwide (Northern & Southern Hemisphere), I use the five geostationary satellites for estimating center positions and intensity. I know 100% that the Earth is a globe. On a flat Earth, the Coriolis effect would make all cyclones rotate the same way - they don't. In your video about the 24-hr Moon, you didn't specifically SAY that you would not see a 24-hr Moon while there. I got the impression that you were saying that you were saying there would always be a 24-hr Moon in Antarctica. You did not mention a two-week cycle and that there would NOT be a 24 Moon in Antarctica. My thoughts at the time were that now you've given flerfs an "out" when there is no 24-hr Moon. Looking forward to the videos from Antarctica. Oh, back in 1980, my first job out of college took me to an oil platform 20 miles off the Strait of Magellan. We flew out of Rio Gallegos by helicopter. My fellow Globers annoy me because our model predicts if the 24 hr Sun (or moon) is possible and when and where it will happen, and there you go it happened.Yet they never hold Flat Earther's feet to the fire to come up with a model that can predict the Sun and Moon's position over the next 365 days that will be accurate to say, 1% I'll give them. Science not only explains but it predicts what will happen, or at the very least in cases like quantum mechanics the probability. Flat Earthers are never pushed on this one simple idea and it is infuriating. They need to: 1) produce an accurate map, again within some reasonable degree. If the Earth is flat this is literally the easiest thing to do. 2) Give the size, shape, height of the Sun and Moon in their model. 3) Show the paths of the Sun and Moon for every hour over the next year. This is not unreasonable to ask for by any means, it is the foundation of any working model.

A fact is, those guys can also film and do the same thing to McToon. What's stopping them? Everyone can film and claim something, but all of the videos combined will show all sides... Then people can decide who's take is best. It's why so many people film interactions with cops. You're frustrated with "globers" because you made a video stating you'll be looking out for a 24 hour moon during your trip as additional evidence and commenters pointed out that, based on the moon's orbit as observed for the last few thousand years, there won't be one during your trip? Yes, you are stating that "if there is ever a 24 hour moon at the South Pole that disproves flat earth." But that's pretty pointless if you'll only be looking for one during a time when everyone agrees it won't appear. I appreciate your patience with the issue and your genuine attempt to reach people, but this doesn't feel like something you should be frustrated about. You didn't design the experiment for observation of a 24 hour moon, you then wanted to add it as a secondary goal, and people pointed out your experiment isn't set up right to measure that secondary goal. They're helping. If you had wanted to add that secondary goal it should have been thought of during the planning stage. That's how experiments work, whether they are at the cutting edge of science or confirming long known truths. Researchers often think of late stage additions and often those are not possible. The addition of trying to procure a video of a 24 hour moon from outside this period is nice, but it doesn't really work with the premise of the rest of the experiment that well. After all one side states that there are forces at work manipulating photo and video evidence at a large scale, so you decided that the only way to get the proof accepted is to have representatives of that side there as the 24 hour sun is happening. I guess that's why people are either missing you said it or not focusing on it, because if you just wanted a video to begin with you wouldn't have had to organize any of this. You would have just needed to get in touch with someone at an Antarctic station and ask them to put a camera outside. But that wouldn't work, because that evidence would just have been called false. Like all the other evidence. Anyway, good luck on the trip. I'm curious to hear the tale of how the group held up and how everyone will be talking ones they're back home.

Holy crap I feel for you Will. All the noise, vitriol, chaos, calamity, drama and endless distraction has got to be weighing you down. Makes perfect sense to me. What if Witsit or Jeran photo bombs MCToon while he’s recording? Does that mean if there’s an intentional photo bomb that’ll makes MCToon’s vid unusable?

That might be a tactic they deploy, any experiment or footage toon or the others records of the sun will be video bombed so he can't use the footage. That's the childishness i expect to see from someone who knows their grift is about to be taken away. Naturally if toon thinks they intentionally put themselves in front of his camera I'd expect toon to post said footage on KZbin so we can all laugh at them.

@ The question is how did Witsit get on MCToon’s camera. The prohibition is for MCToon (or somebody) to approach Witsit unexpectedly or without acknowledgement. That would be outside the guidelines. But if MCToon is making a vid and Witsit approaches intentionally getting on camera (photo bombing) then it’s not MCToon violating any ‘rule’ or agreement.

I just realized a single video of the a 24 hour moon would be way worse for flerfs than the thousands of 24 hour sun videos we already have. And that's because its way harder to just say it was filmed on the north pole when you can see which stars are in the sky.

Anyone with an inkling of astronomy wouldn't accept the flerf delusion to begin with, and vice versa flerfs reject any notion of accurate observation. It has never been about degrees of evidence.
