Tensho Kata v5

The bunkai for Tensho kata. Demonstrated by Denis Casey sensei (8th Dan) with the assistance of John Carr Sensei (5th Dan).
Tensho kata was created by Chojun Miyagi O' Sensei and so is part of the Goju-ryu system. The name translates to "revolving hands", "rotating palms", or "turning palms.This kata emphasizes the soft aspects of Goju-ryu, and encompasses continuous, flowing movements.

It's really interesting that GojuRyu & Shotokan Karate was used to create Kyokushin Karate, Jeff Speakman has studied both GojuRyu and American Kenpo,Kenpo from Edmund Parker.....psst. I study GojuRyu karate. Peace to all,train well,train hard,be respectful and responsible.

I don't recommend training bunkai like that. It will get you killed in the street. Real bunkai training is supposed to be realistic. Master Motobu would surely say this is not realistic. Street assault doesn't look like that and such techniques wouldn't work during real assault. I know that there are many people who think that not agreeing with a master is sth bad, that it's a tabu topic. But it's wrong to think so. Every humble master will say that not agreeing with them is sth *good* , because it shows that people are thinking freely and not mindlessly coping them. That being said - it's a wrong way to train bunkai. There are karate masters who do it accurately and *Ian Abernethy* is one of them. I recommend checking his channel.

Opponent too compliant, no compromising the opponent before striking, no forward pressure, recessive hand redundant 95% of the time, both hands should work in unison (Meotote). I have been practising and studying this Kata for over 50 years this interpretation not for me im afraid. No disrespect just constructive criticism.

Myself, as an Okinawan karate practitioner as well as sports karate practitioner: I agree with you. Real bunkai is supposed to be realistic in terms of non-concensual violent fight. And that's not how real aggresive non-consensual fights look. There are people who use appropriate bunkai: just look at Ian Abernethy's YT channel.
