Thanks Michael, You do a great job in feeding your fans with good stuff, in a clear practical way. From the first time I saw your Airvolution swag I'd been wondering about it. Your comments and demonstration just clarified it all, for me. So again thankyou. When travelling 'clockwise' from Sydney in 1981 I got as far as Darwin, where I settled. On that trip I had a square 'tourist-type' tent we used to see beside offroad buses. Mine lived in a hessian bag on the roofrack of my FJ55 "Bill Peach" two-tone brown Toyota wagon. I'd leave the top alluminium tube 'square' in place & fold the rest around that. From stopping the 4x4 to finishing putting it up took around 3 minutes. It had a telescopic centre pole. So often I'd just whack in the four corner pegs unzip & walk in with the pole. So my 3 minutes included getting it off the roofrack.

Here in the Socialist Republic of Kalifornia, we have something similar called a "TentCot." Well... it looks similar, but it uses integrated steel poles. It goes up very quickly, and I got caught in the biggest rain downpour that I've ever experienced. Luckily, I had sealed all of the seams ahead of time, so I was ready. When I got up in the morning, I was looking down at about four inches of water. And I was perfectly dry, which I'm sure would not have been the case had I been in a tent. The other advantage of the TentCot is that it's far less expensive than your Swag. But the BIG disadvantage is how heavy it is. That's the only reason I ended up selling it.
@MiniLuv-19845 жыл бұрын
The tentcot is much the same price in Australian pesos.

My wife had an airvolution tent behind her in coral bay last year. It exploded. I’m guessing over inflation and the temperature fluctuation contributed to this event. Nice concept, but I’ll stick with poles thanks.

The pump is fixable if you can remove the plunger from the tube, wipe out the tube with a clean soft cloth, wipe off the seal on the plunger as well, then apply/wipe on a very thin amount of vaseline on the plunger seal and the inside of the tube. This should fix it. If not you can replace the seal.

Have you tried lubing the pump seals with WD-40 or silicone to see if that would fix the pump?
@billwessels2075 жыл бұрын
Wd40 is not a good lube. It will dry out and leave a brown coating. Vaseline in a thin layer works much better. WD40 means water displacement. and it is sometimes used on bicycle chains or motorcycle chains because water will wash it off and it does not retain sand and grit as more waxy chain lubes do.
