The way they've each handled their regeneration also shows how 4th is right to put 10th in his place: the Fourth Doctor saw his fate coming, and accepted it, whereas the 10th tried to run from it, but HAD to accept it.

Yup. I love him but to me it's pretty obvious his arc written to be a complete downfall of "The Doctor" when he lets himself become too human. He was losing it by the end.

The script was definitely intentionally finally addressing all the issues with 10's personality and his vanity.

The 10th Doctor's vanity is on full blast during this scene. Tho to be fair he is a lot closer to his 13th incarnation than 4 is.

I mean, despite both have their own points (4 talking as a young, and 10 talking from his closer end), it's obvious that 10's vanity has been taking over the best of him. His frustration about the end of regenerations is almost the same as the Master's same trouble.
