We knew Gary for about 20 years. Been reading his studies for many years. Met him once and the whole time we were in conversation, there was tears of love in his eyes. It flowed out of him. I had the privilege of doing a lot of artwork for him. Both will be missed! Thank you Gerry for putting this together.

Rev 16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.Rev 16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.Rev 16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great. Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

true, I agree, but remember, something must be cleared up for the record, the "universal church" that was created/established by Christ in Matthew 16:18, is that universal mystical, spiritual body of true believers that we Christians are all part of (and the Apostle Peter is that rock of solid faith, who is representative of all true born-again Christians everywhere). So yes, Jesus did establish the "Church", an "Ekklesia", the church of true born-again spiritual believers who seek after Christ. What he did NOT establish is any particular denomination or religious tradition (e.g. Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Calvinism, various Pentecostal movements, etc...) People erroneously think that "Ekklesia" or "Church" means a particular earthly institutional church or denomination (such as the ones mentioned in brackets). Of course I'm not saying people who do officially belong to an institution or denomination are not Christians (that's not what I'm saying AT ALL). There are godly and Holy-Spirit Christians present in all kinds of denominations. I'm saying that there is a difference between the secular world's definition of a "Church" (which is buildings and earthly organizations/institutions) and what Jesus defined as a "Church" (the latter of which spiritually TRANSCENDS any denomination). I agree with Universal Salvation by the way. The horrible doctrine of "eternal torment" came through EARTHLY "churches", not through the spiritual "Church" of Christ. May Gary and his wife RIP.

Hi Gerry. I just watched a video about a gay athiest's Christian conversion experience. He had me until he said that the Holy Spirit told him that hell is real. How is this possible? My wife once believed in the forgotten Gospel that Gary taught us about. My belief in that all are saved has not changed, but my wife started going back to church and fell in the belief that hell exists again because of John 3:16. How is this possible?

I think you should consider, incorporating these things into your teachings about tent making...if we could equip a hundred thousand people...with touring bicycles and light weight camping gear they could take the Gospel of Salvation into the hardest places in the world to get to. . .a mountain bike with 10 lbs of camping gear can go any where in the world, this is not a calling, it's the for filling of the Great Commission . . .more people can go into all the world, without a High initial cost . . . Mathew 6:33 Forsake all Luke 14:33 Whosoever KJV... Romans 10:14-17. Salvation is free it will only cost you everything.... ... Acts 18:1-3 -This is the only place in the Scriptures that mentions Paul working on tents. From this passage is built the doctrine that Paul’s full time occupation was tent making. It says that he was of that craft, which probably refers to the craft he had learned as a youth. Peter, for example, grew up in the fishing trade; and while one cannot say that Peter never caught another fish from the beginning of Acts to the day of his death, yet certainly it was not his full time occupation. Note that Paul was in Corinth when it mentions him working on tents with Aquila and Priscilla. We know that Paul was not supported solely by this, however, because of what he wrote later to the brothers in Corinth: II Cor. 11:9- The Macedonian brothers, who were in “deep poverty” (II Cor. 8:1,2) supplied Paul with his needs while he preached at Corinth. Thus whatever work of the hands Paul was doing, he wasn’t making enough to get by in Corinth, because other brothers were supplying his needs while he was there. We also have sent supplies to brethren in other places (in Mexico, for example.) Brothers and sisters have gotten together food, clothing, shoes, bicycles, and other needs and have carried it down to the souls there. But we have not needed to “labour for the meat which perisheth” (John 6:27) to be able to do this. The five above passages (Acts 18:13, Acts 20:34-35, 1 Cor. 4:12, Eph. 4:28, 1 Thes. 4:11-12) constitute an exhaustive list of all New Testament verses that specifically speak of Christians working with their hands (in contrast to the over 140 verses that speak of the spiritual labors we are supposed to do.) Note that none of them exhorts us to work for money, nor does any of them say anything about having a steady job. 2 Thes. 3:7-12 - Some use this passage to say the Paul was supporting himself with tent making while he was at Thessalonika as well. However, it is recorded that it was the Philippian brothers who supplied Paul’s necessities while he was at Thessalonika. Phil. 4:15, 16 - Paul wasn’t making enough to get by in Thessalonika, either. Thus there is no passsage to support the notion that Paul had a full time tent making career. His full time work was preaching. He spent two years in Ephesus, for example, daily teaching the Word (Acts 19:9,10). This is not to say that he never made a tent - we make our own tents, too - but more so we wish to point out that this cannot be used to support the idea that we’re supposed to get a steady job and labor for the meat which perishes. 2Thes. 3:7-12 Verse 8 cannot be speaking of only physical work. Can we believe all Paul did day and night was labour for the meat that perishes? Is that how to be a good example? Did he never witness, or pray, or search the Scriptures, or serve the saints? (All of these things are, according to the Scriptures, work.) However, because of verse9 we see it cannot be speaking only of spiritual work, either, since he says, “Not because we have not power....” (Paul refers in 1 Cor. 9:6-14 to the power he had as an apostle to not be involved with the physical labors.) So the work being spoken of here to the Thessalonians must be referring to both physical and spiritual: Paul and those with him preached, and went over the Scriptures with souls, and did as well whatever physical service was necessary to help the church continue. It helps to bear in mind that true Christian life was (and still is) communal. It was never meant to be this form we see today of people who see each other a few times a week or so (or less) then go and do their own thing the rest of the time. The body of Mashiyach in the N.T. was together - they lived together, worked together, etc. (Acts 2:44 and Acts4:32) All have to pitch in for this kind of situation to function. Luke 10:2,7 -Here is a labor that, if we do as good disciples, we’re worthy of our food and drink (related to the previous passage that says, “If any would not work, neither should he eat.” Consider in that light 1 Timothy 5:17,18 as well. 1Cor. 9:13, 14 - The priests under the law of Moses that offered sacrifice received a portion of the things they offered up (see, for example, Lev. 7:7-10, 31-34.) In the same way, in the New Testament, according to what Paul writes, those who preach the Gospel are sustained through that work - they are worthy of their hire.
