Brake upgrades are very important when it comes to racing. When it come to the E36 there aren't a lot of options to be found with out spending $3-4K+. A common upgrade for non///M models is to move to ///M performance brakes. Today we experiment and see if a set of used brakes from the 330ci will be compatible with the e36 set up.

you can get 16" wheels to fit, 330 could actually be delivered with them, but it's not a given that they do. (i've run 16" stock wheels with ice rally tires on my 46 m3)

That's true but you should be able to switch one of your back tires onto the front of the car, and put the spare on the rear and it would fit.

So I picked up 05 x3 calipers I was told they are the same as 330i calipers but they don’t seem to fit at all, is there a difference between x3, 330ci, 330i?

Hope you can add some clarity. I have a 93 325is that being turned in to a track car. I have heard a lot of talk about the e46 upgrade. When trying to look it up it looks like i need to order calipers and rotors for a 2003 330i. But what about the backs? I hear a e46 328 rear calipers and rotors bolt on. But what year do i order for?
@TenzaMotorsports

The best thing to do for the rear is to just upgrade them. New performance pads and rotors. Check/upgrade the brake lines. Give the caliper a once over to make sure it’s working properly. If you're truly adamant on doing big brakes on the rear see what ecs tuning has to offer!
@felipedantas963

That´s right! E46 330 calipers/rotors for the front and E46 328 calipers/rotors for the rear, plug´n play, just like the video here. And of course, since it´s a track car, you can get all performance rotors/pads. I would also study a brake master cylinder upgrade, but no experience on that yet to suggest which one.

There's also a company called vierliter that sell modified rear brake shoes on their ebay store to be able to use the 330i brakes on the rear as well. But yeah, e46 328i will bolt right on in the rear with no modifications or additional parts.

Hello, I just got done doing the conversion on the fronts and unfortunately after bleeding for hours the brake pedal feels very spongy and mushy and engagement point is way farther to the point that the first half of travel is practically useless. The interesting part was that when we bled the brakes with the engine off the brake pedal felt amazing but the moment the car was on it would go back to the spongy feel. I was wondering if you did the master cylinder upgrade or if you have any tips I could benefit from? Thank you!
@TenzaMotorsports
@TenzaMotorsports Жыл бұрын
That’s the only thing I can think of, is the master cylinder. These brakes don’t need a larger system. No benefits doing an upgrade. A replacement one would be plenty.

@@TenzaMotorsports hopefully you've read Abit but you can run e46 325/328i brakes in the rear just gonna have to unbolt the brake line from the trailing arm to extend it to the e46 caliper aswell as the 506 casting is the only one that works on the e36
