To add to the point about dark humour: it's not just about what you say, it's the community you say it in. Some streams they welcome that stuff, some places don't, I appreciate an edgy joke, but I don't make them in like a stream where they don't even curse.
@PandaBearWithMic3 жыл бұрын
Well to tell the truth the "gas" and "fire" wasn't even a joke by any means. It's like saying f-word and giggling cause you know you're getting away with it...
@daddybendover693 жыл бұрын
Well there's also a distinction between dark humor and just being an agent in oppression. Straight, white, cis men often times don't understand that because other straight, white, cis men will laugh at a "dark humor" joke that is in reality just a slur, racist, sexist, or homophobic. When a gay, POC, or gender nonconforming individual makes a joke about how the system oppresses them then its dark humor, punching upwards and making light of YOUR fucked up situation. When a straight, white, cis man makes a joke about OTHER people's oppression then they're just bragging that they don't deal with it.
@bobmcbobington6743 жыл бұрын
@@daddybendover69 To me that's not the case at all. It's still dark humor, the meaning doesn't magically change because a white person says it over a black person or vice versa; it's still a joke and not to be taken seriously. This doesn't change the fact that the time and place matter, saying a dark joke involving suicide won't go over well when talking to the family of a person who committed suicide a day ago. The same thing applies to black jokes at a BLM rally. If you're making dark jokes, you kinda have to make sure the other people around you understand that and it's not a KKK anonymous meeting or something. Oh and I do agree the slur thing is also just a "wow he's edgy" thing more so than actual humor, saying no-no words and giggling is shit people should've gotten over years ago.
@daddybendover693 жыл бұрын
@@bobmcbobington674 I'm just saying that a lot of white boy "dark humor" is just blatant microaggressions. You have to acknowledge that unless you're talking about yourself then "dark humor" can just be someone punching down. Personally, I just think most white boys, especially if they're financially supported and straight don't have the same experience with oppression and just don't get how to do true dark humor that isn't going to alienate less advantaged members of society. When you don't have any societal trauma that affects you then you only have others to make fun of. I agree that sometimes kids say words that are unacceptable because they're trying to be edgy but I don't think they should be overlooked. Unless someone has proven they understand why what they said is wrong then I think its a problem. Frankly, I feel that unless someone is very familiar with the type of trauma that the person is making fun of be it homophobia, racism, sexism, or transphobia, then any "jokes" they'll be making would be less about comedy and more about enforcing fucked up societal oppression.
@bobmcbobington6743 жыл бұрын
@@daddybendover69 Oh I agree wholeheartedly, I just think we should be careful when it comes to labeling people as racist or sexist or anything really when it comes to dark humor. A lot of times people take situations out of context and focus on the words themselves rather than the kind of environment it was said in. If we're mainly talking about teens and young adults then I can't agree more, a lot of stuff is said for the sole purpose of being edgy and therefore, funny. A good chunk of them don't entirely understand what they're saying, and I think it's important that we address it and try to talk to them about it rather than waving it off as "kids being kids". Apologies about that one, I didn't mention everything I had on my mind.

One thing that bugged me was that there were so so many people in chat making excuses for some of these toxic and racist behaviours assuming stuff such as “he’s PROBABLY just joking” or “he’s just a kid, that’s how we kids are”. It doesn’t matter if they are probably joking or if he’s ‘just a kid’, stop enabling that behaviour especially in Teo’s chat where it’s against the rules.. when you make excuses for these weirdos it essentially makes them feel like it’s more okay to do this

I don't think it sends the message its okay to do this, I mean they got banned in the first place and as Teo said are under scrutiny after they are unbanned. But the winters are terrible with about 5 hours of sunlight, and temps down to -50 regularly. This man, every november, would walk to the beaverlodge Bank, and throw a brick through the window in the middle of the night anx get arrested. He would do this right before thanksgiving, which allowed him a fantastic turkey supper in prison. And because he broke into a bank, he would recieve 6 months of jail time, so he would not only get out in the spring! He would be fed and well rested the entire cold winter.

These are good. The mods who set that whole case file them setup are MVP's. I was legit impressed by that.

@TheOnlyTaps3 жыл бұрын
@@theswissmiss69 Yeah like I don't even understand it. Like what does one gain by being a d*ckhead to someone else online? Coz even I've done stupid sh*t when I was a kid, we all have, but like none of it was ever racist/homophobic/sexist/targeting ones religion/targeting ones culture or anything like that. Like if I wanted to cuss someone out the times I behaved like an idiot I'd just swear at you in general. Not some instant go to to something outrageous. But I agree with Teo in that people should be given second chances and often change, it's just like a sad thing to me that people are raised that way. I always tend to place a lot of blame on parents, obviously individuals take the brunt of the blame but ultimately none of us are born with that kinda hatred in our hearts, we're all born with a clean slate and that childish innocence, everything else that sh*t is learned behaviour.

@@TheOnlyTaps Honestly i think case 18 and that group of friends who are sexist should stay banned
@TheOnlyTaps3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewlawton562 💯👊🏿 Yeah I feel you. I was just saying u can see where Teo is coming from, coz we all deserve second chances. And if they do anything reckless they'd immediately get banned again. But yeah was just explaining that stuff like racism/sexism and other forms of discrimination etc, all that stuff we gotta stop chalking it up to being "edgy" if we are to grow as a society. All that nonsense is learned behaviours. Not some sort of default setting in us all. Nobody is born with that kinda hatred.

Can I just say that I as a muslim feel ashamed of that person who was trying to use Islam as an excuse for what s/he said? That was completely wrong and banning him or her and similar people with the same ideology for lifetime will be the right decision in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm agree with you. That dude's just the typical "holier than thou" kinda guy. Going around the hood giving islam such a bad vibes, uncool.

I just recently downloaded discord and so far everyone I have met have been really nice to me. But seeing these people (not talking about every single case he looked at, just the ones that are staying banned) asking to be unbanned even though they knew what they did was bad and didn’t feel any remorse, makes me sad. I have never seen people like this on discord and I’m glad I haven’t. Also I’d like to add that while watching Teo professionally analyze each report is amazing. He acts so professional in this video which seems weird to me since on his main channel he is a silly goofball all the time. I doubt he will see this comment since I am 3 weeks late but if he does see it, Hi Teo, love your content and keep it up. You have such a wonderful community and I am happy to be a part of it. ❤️

Having been an admin on a private server, I understand how the mods feel when they have to deal with a lot of these people. A lot of them just lie straight up to your face and get mad at you because they think your wrong and you get called a bad mod etc all the time. Its almost always people constantly putting you down and breaking the same rules over and over. Its really stressful and a lot of people dont understand its a lot more work than just having some stupid power to kick/ban etc.

I understand Teo's decisions to unban certain people. I myself was never racist or homophobic, but I grew up in a homophobic/racist household (won't go into further detail other than stating that my father wasn't a kind person). It was just what I lived around when I was a child. I've said some shit before, never with the intention to hurt anyone or anything, but that was years ago. I've grown as a person and I know now that what I was forced to be around as a child, or what I've said in the past as a stupid teenager isn't what defines me. I'm a much better person now.

Same with me, but mainly at school. I was at least 10 when going to a certain school and I never really understood what exactly racism was, but kids at that age and younger would pull their eyes back to imitate and mock Asian people, me unfortunately included. Even at 13 I would think saying the n-word was, exactly as Teo said, edgy and cool. Kids are stupid like that. Especially if you're unpopular and you want that slightest bit of fame. Although I never said it a lot or called anybody that, it's still really shitty. As I grew older I now know a lot better and look down on a lot of stuff like that. It's shameful but I also see it as a life lesson as Teo said. You live, you learn, you mature and cut that shit out. Even hearing stuff online and finding it funny before realizing how harmful it really was makes a huge difference because now there's a sense of awareness there. I never realized it but a lot of entertainment channels use that, especially if they have a young fanbase or at least one easily influenced. Their humour punches down on minorities almost always and kids and teens hearing that think that it's funny and do the same thing. I know kids shouldn't really be on KZbin but kids at 13, which is the KZbin age rating, are still very naive.

I get why they want to play among us in your server, it’s like going to a concert and everybody is singing the same song, but going to a tour everybody knows different songs. there’s a special connection when everybody knows that song, and the song is you.
