Hello hello, I hope you enjoyed the video - would you be interested in seeing more Polaroid photography videos in the future? I will be experimenting with double (or more) exposures. So, if you‘d like I can document that process and make a video on that too :)) Much love to Polaroid for giving me this wonderful opportunity, thank you so much! If you want to read more about the camera you can check it out here: bit.ly/46P7RpR Have a great week, Teo

I think it was genius of Polaroid to work with you! I enjoy the trial and error you walk us through as you learn a new medium. It's the most appealing Polaroid video I've seen, as far as making me personally want to try it. I noticed you've been using more Korean music in your recent videos and I like your taste in music. Works so well with your videos!

What a wonderful heartwarming video, I recently got a instax mini for cheap money from ebay and I really enjoy how it makes you think so much more about your shots. But it also makes you appreciate every shot you do so much more. I bought a disposable analog camera and will try that medium now as well :) thanks for your content Teo! Been a fan of Polaroid instant photography for decades having bought my first camera back in the late 70’s. Looking at the new I-2 but the reviews and photo results have been rather disappointing until this review. I now think it’s a matter of people learning to use the manual controls on what was formerly just a point and shoot camera. Your results are more than satisfactory for Polaroid and actually show the full potential of what a manually controlled camera can accomplish. Great review

Thanks for doing this man! I was interested in buying the I2 but have seen some mixed reviews. Just got my first Polaroid Cam (sourced a brand new onestep2 VF in 2023 lol) and look forward to adding this to my arsenal. Big fan of Andrei Tarkovsky here btw!! did NOT know he worked with Polaroid film too!! This makes me feel like I just landed on the right format for myself out of sheer luck (I really like the dreamy vibe of the photos, the random noise and also notice a random noise gradient in some pictures too! Mad interesting tbh). Can't wait to try to get the Stalker greens in my shots... (Love that movie 😌)

Excellent exploration of the necessity for exposure compensation using Polaroids. Many people who use the Now+ and the I-2 complain that the camera over exposes or under exposes the film, thinking there is a fault in the camera design. But they don't really understand how the limited dynamic range impacts exposure. Folks who never shot with film may find this baffling. After all, automatic mode should figure this out for the photographer, right? Not quite right. The light meter takes an average reading of the scene, but the photographer must use her or his mind to think about the light and the shadows and adjust accordingly. I think this is why the exposure compensation dial is so prominent on the camera. The Now+ is more tricky to use. One has to hold the flash button down to over or under expose a stop, but that said it does work. Your systematic approach is great advice. One wonders if digital shooters can ultimately make sense of what needed to achieve consistent exposures. Good luck!

There is in fact a design issue with the i2s auto exposure that’s made public now. It’s based on the wrong iso and over exposes. A firmware update is coming soon to correct this. It’s still true that current Polaroid film has very limited dynamic range making accurate exposure absolutely necessary for good pictures.

I’m impressed by the level of consistency that you finally reached. I’ve burned through 3 plus packs of film already with very mixed results. Just when I thought I figured out its tendencies, it throws me for a curve. Can I ask, are you shooting on automatic solely with EV adjustments, or using manual mode and hand metering? Any video that you could make with tips would be mightily appreciated! So far your video is probably the best I’ve seen for this camera.

Thanks for this video. The exposure trouble you are having is not the film, its the i2. Surprisingly my 680SLR, and completely un-restored sx70 is far more consistent than my i2, nearly all shots properly exposed with the vintage cameras. Less than half with the i2 are. Heck even the cheap modern Polaroid go is consistent. You can manually meter with an external meter and put the i2 in manual, but that's annoying, especially when a 40 year old Polaroid is more consistent.

And how accurate did you find the camera’s own meter?

@kennethmargulies407
@kennethmargulies407 Ай бұрын
@@just_eirik Yes, recent Polaroid color films have improved in terms of stability and color quality. The latest color films are designed to offer more vibrant colors, better contrast, and more consistent exposure compared to earlier versions. They’ve also made efforts to reduce issues like fading and shifts in color over time, which had been concerns with older Polaroid films. As for their duochrome films, Polaroid has released several special duochrome editions, which feature two-tone color schemes, like black and yellow or black and pink. These films provide a distinct, artistic look and are highly popular for their bold, contrasting effects. Duochrome films aren’t meant to capture natural colors but are a creative alternative for more abstract or stylized photography.

Thanks, nice video. No matter what the camera is like, the film is inferior. Terrible colours, low resolution and no dynamic range. For me, much too expensive for fun pics and too bulky to carry around. What about eco impact?
