Hello there! I hope you enjoyed this more casual chatty-style video. As mentioned in the video, I'm pretty unsure about the format, but at the moment it really helps me out with my schedule to make a slightly easier to make video. Btw. before the comments on the terrible quality of my lens come rolling in: I'm quite sure that the unsharp edges are not created by the lens, but my scanning method. I do the DSLR-scanning method with a macro-ring between my camera and the lens, which I think is causing the distortion (and in colour photography even chromatic aberration). I ordered a little something, that might (hopefully!) solve this issue and increase the quality of my scans - it's due to arrive next week :) Have a good week, Teo.

I like the leading lines and stairs portrait the most. I like when I frame my subject, it adds uniqueness to that person. Also a sitting pose beside building is not dull for me. Simply because it's a city portrait, so there is nothing bad about it.

Great shots dude! I actually really like the shot at 5:19. I think the background isn't too distracting and it is really cool to see the subject just enveloped in the world around her

Chatty Format is more engaging 👌because you can discuss your work more naturally. It's cool to see you do something from your normal sessions, refreshing! One of the least shoots I do is protrait coz it's making me nervous haha anyway, that shot in the slide is my favorite. Her pose really blended with the surrounding. Another good one Teo!

I used the Kodak TMAX400 120 film for many years, I shot it at 200 ASA/ISO and developed it in a thin solution for a long time with very few and very gently agitations, in that way the film had more grey tones and had still very good contrast, in modern words, larger dynamic range. I guess you can do the same with a Ilford Delta 400 film. Of paper I used Ilford Multigrade. Made great images from my 6x6 Hasselblad ! I also used Kodak TMAX 400 with my Nikon F3.

Excellent photos. That line leading to the right and filling trapped making the eyes return to the left back and forth in my opinion from the last picture is what I don’t like some much about the last picture.

Overall nice work, and some great shots. One thing I would say is, that you need to get closer to your subject when shooting portraits. Using horizontal or landscape mode as I would call it, you can still get a lot of background and environment into your portraits, even if the subject is allowed to take up more space in the frame. I'm a 40-50mm lens type of photographer myself - especially for portraits, but that's just personal preference.

you should do more portraits though you have a natural feeling for it. it is so interesting that although there is a lot going on in the pictures it is still so calming and still

Nice photos and the the T-max looks great . I do think that the backgrounds are very strong to the point of overpowering your model . In my opinion , you should feature her more in both size and more attention to the light on her face . These strike me as being more of a fashion style than portraiture . Anyway , that being said , They're good photos ! Cheers !!!

Love the leading lines. I feel like wide lens really suit well for this kind of portrait photography. But it also felt a bit unfamiliar since portraits are not often done with wide angle lens. Not sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Why not something like 35 or 55ish, actually? Was it on purpose or you picked wide for no reason?
@teocrawford3 жыл бұрын
Ohh sweet🙌🏼 Ahh well I guess this style could also be classified as fashion-style photography or similarly, but for the sake of simplicity I thought "Portrait" is a rather fitting overarching term :D I generally had the wide angle look in my head and would have gone to max. 35mm, but since I didn't own one at that time I stuck to the 18-28mm, which turned out to be really fun🤗

Shooting portraits is fun sometimes, I generally do candid stuff when I'm out shooting with other people or I ask strangers, which was something I had a hard time with at first, I have the same problem with posing people, I just tell them to stand how they want and I'll try to get some shots while talking to them. I find you sometimes get a more genuine facial expression out of them that way

You have made pictures of people but NOT portraits. You (nor the viewer) have any connection or identification with the subject. Dig up Arthur D'Arinson picture books, and the great Yousef Karsh and Phillipe Holliman, and even Ansel Adams and some of the Time/Life Press Photographers before 1970 and newspaper photogs like Rineholt Weegee. He HAD to come back with a portrait of "Scarface" Capone, Machinegun Kelley, and "Bugsy" Segal in 1/50th of a second or Bette Grable in a crowd of 30-50 other photogs pushing and shoving for a place!
