I was into entry level stuff and the quality went away 3 or 4 years ago. I was considering getting back into it. Your reviews are helping that motivation. Nice job. Your blinds are super interesting. And cut down the false hype. FOMO will empty your bank account and not satisfy the taste buds.

The main issue is that the terroir makes a huge difference with Ocho. The Nacimiento blanco was the only Ocho blanco that I did not care for and I have had nearly all of them. The Ocho Repo Widow Jane used Cerro de Gallo on their first lot which is excellent. The new Nacimiento Repo is just ok.

Their agua nueva blanco was fantastic; I tried to track down as many as I could.

I just got a bottle of this Widow Jane Anejo. I am a huge lover of Ocho Anejo, but his Widow Jane is not to my liking. Regular Ocho Anejo has a very caramel, butterscotch flavor, and sends a plume of heat right through the top of your head. It always makes me smile in enjoyment. The Widow Jane is very sweet, much of the whiskey flavor comes through. To me, it is sickly sweet, without the plume of heat. I plan to let guests drink it.

Sooooo according to the last video I watched, Jules would prefer the Bulleit single malt over Tequila Ocho Widow Jane Anjeo?

Just finished a bottle of the Tequila Ocho Añejo and it’s definitely top tier. It was hard to find, so I’m thinking this one is going to be even more challenging to get my hands on 😫 nevertheless, great video and thanks for sharing the wealth! It sounds amazing.

love these videos!!! as the economy is in dire straights and social media at all time high we get so many overpriced hype. I was gonna really try and search this bottle out but after this I think I'll save the funds for a different find. can't wait till the NEXT TEQUILLA BLIND THEY ARE THE BEST

No comparison to the regular shelf Ocho? Think that won your Anjeo blind🤷♂️

I seen a drop here WJ Ocho Anejo along with Blantons, Weller 12 year and Eagle Rares... Ran to the store and all the Bourbons are all gone 😢but the Ocho was there.. I passed up on it.. I didn't know this was a higher proof that time.. How is this compare with the regular Ocho Anejo??

I think Dutch really picked up on the barrel influence. I dont think many of the barrels at Widow Jane actually have their own juice in them. That "orange spice" is hinting more at it being a sourced Dickel barrel.
@ernieforni322110 ай бұрын
Again, the best part of Widow Jane is their used barrels.
@apeekintime10 ай бұрын
Totally disagree. Sure, the mineral note is not what I usually want but the 10 year for $50 at Costco is a decent pour to have on shelf and I like the minerality for some cocktails. It's better than actual Dickle releases IMO. The pricing on their stuff at most stores is obscene for what you get tho. I'm not paying $150 for WJ 13 or $250 for WJ 15 lol. Also... Decadence is actually a good pour. The added sweetness from the finishing really pairs well the minerality and balances out. Most Maple Syrup barrel finished bourbons are just too sweet and the finish dominates the whiskey. With WJ it works nicely and doesn't get overly sweet. Like most WJ products the problem is the price. I was lucky to obtain my 2022 and 2023 Decadence releases for $80 each but normally you'll end up paying $90-100.

@seanchagani5414 No, I know. It's just that the booze is usually garbage. The episodes are usually funny though.

So the price was $90? A little steep but really not bad considering what it is. Any time I see an Anejo with a bourbon attached to it it's way higher. Isn't El tesoro knob Creek like $150+?

Loved this channel for years, but certain things I still don't fully understand. On the 1-10 scale, you guys seem to treat 5 as neutral/mediocre. But for something like body or finish, what would 1-4 even mean? What's a negative body or finish when almost no finish or no body is a 5?
@CuriosityPublic10 ай бұрын
We generally think of sub 5 finishes as being very negative in flavor -- like a significant off putting flavor arises. Finish is strange, because if there is no finish, sometimes that is better than an off putting finish.
