Tera ex for Scarlet & Violet era are essentially what VMax were for Sword & Shield era. When VStar started, you rushed to tell us "VMax are gone!" but they kept coming up until the end of Sw&Sh era. I propose waiting at least for a second main expansion of this year, maybe there will be new Tera ex after all.

Legends ZA was announced for 2025, the big gamefreak leak from months back revealed the game was supposed to come out 2024 then got delayed to 2025, pokebeach recently reported that two Japanese sets “mega brave” and “mega symphonia” were recently trade marked, with Japanese sets usually releasing within 6-8 months of being trade marked. It would be astonishing if we didn’t get the return of mega ex pokemon this year, and it seems likely that the return of megas will take precedent over a mechanic that they’ve already explored the limits of.

@justabean5869 Your logic sounds very concrete to me! However it would be a real shame to get a major mechanic halfway through the year. This would be a little awkward for the future when those initial cards are subject to rotation. Just like how the first wave of paradox cards are going away next year before the rest of the paradox rotate leaving a majority stranded with little utility

Even though Teras are going away since we're done with the Scarlet and Violet games, they feel underwhelming in the TCG. Teras are amazing in the video games, especially in competetive. They're not just "sparkly mons with fancy hats", since you can change your Pokemon's type on a whim to throw off your opponent. Here, they add next to nothing and are just facier EX Pokemon. So I'm not surprised we're not getting anymore Tera Pokemon, but they're still the format until they're rotated out. Meaning Teras will have their value when the first set of Megas are underwhelming.

Eventually, ex Pokémon will stop being printed but Pokémon Horizons anime is still going on, so the ex Pokémon are still around. Also, certain new Pokémon may not be Tera Pokémon but it's not the end of them yet. Lastly, looking forward to Journey Together in late March.

The reign of megas will return. i just hope it stays this time and they're done with the gimmicky stuff they've been doing. Vmax was kinda cool. I wasn't a fan of terra. Megas should have always stayed the direction of the games as a whole. Such a cool concept and the lore it brought during X&Y.

Megas were the worst design card wise. Especially its basically a vstar and vmax card. Brought the hp powercreep and the powercreep in cards. In the vgc megas were even worse to the point they removed it in gen 7 to bring it back only cause people complained. Dynimax and terra yes both equally powercreepy but still more balanced gimics

Honestly. I hated tera pokemon. Ever since they were introduced in the game, I didn’t even finish the game because of it. I didn’t like them they just looked like a useless fad. Mega evolution just made sense and took the franchise further.
