Majora has that same kid, having known the beauty and darkness of that world, in the middle of a doomed isolated place has no fated hero to save them, and embarks on the mission of doing so on his own volition.

It definitely feels like links theme and majoras mask theme are fighting over this song. Even though its the legend of zelda theme as the main focus it gets overshadowed at times by the other parts that are unique to majoras mask. This song is such a masterpiece

I think what the OP means is that on the official Original Soundtrack from the N64 games, the reverb was removed from the track. The 3DS official Original Soundtrack keeps the reverb in.

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, the fact that they put reverb on this doesn’t sit super well with me. But on the other, it sounds a lot fuller than the last version.

Personally, I enjoy the flow and the sound of all the instruments. There was a lot of empty noise in the original version which is ok but idk, I just like this one. It sucks that the N64 gameplay is superior since I can't listen to this version but original is still incredible in its own right
