Welcome to our first time watching Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).
What a sequel!
Wow, some say it's better than the original and we can see why. Written by James Cameron and William Wisher, Directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick.
This film is incredible how it stands up to today 35 years later. The film still impresses! And we love it.
Nothing else needs to be said.

This will be memorable for your son. Every boy of a certain age LOVES T2. I was 9 and T2 was the greatest movie-going experience of my life. Not even Jurassic Park could dethrone this masterpiece for me. The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation. And i love your cosplay outfits.

A lot of Edward Furlong’s lines had to be redubbed because puberty was kicking him in the butt and his voice kept breaking. Linda Hamilton’s twin sister was her body double in the steel mill scene . The actor playing the hospital guard named Lewis had his own twin brother playing his body double . During preproduction Edward Furlong took motorcycle riding lessons . After the release of this film Honda saw a spike in sales of CR dirt bikes . Arnold Schwarzenegger badly hurt his hand while attempting to do the one handed reload of the shotgun . At one point during filming Arnold Schwarzenegger split his time between California and Oregon for filming of Kindergarten Cop The dog “Max” was barking like crazy because (in the future timeline) they were used to help identify Terminators . Robert Patrick trained in running so well that he was actually able to catch up to Edward Furlong on the dirt bike . The nuclear explosion is said to be very realistic as to how one would look

This and Jurassic Park started the CGI trend in earnest. Not long after, the Canadian Gov put out a Public Service Announcement called "The Canadian House Hippo". Seriously, take 30 seconds and watch it. It is both hilarious and educational. Every kid in the 90s wanted one until they figured out that they got duped! And then they still wanted one!!!!

Terminator 2 is one of those films I never get bored of watching. Alongside The Matrix, Alien, The Silence of the Lambs, Blade Runner, Leon, Jurassic Park, Fury Road. Cool story about Robert Patrick, he was waiter in the town near me, my husband and his family frequently ate there, my husband was only 8 at the time and Robert was always super nice to him and talked to them all the time, very friendly he said and looked forward to waiting on my husband's parents, one day they went in to the restaurant and Robert told them this was his last day he's going out to Hollywood to try to make it as an actor, and a couple yrs later he lands T2! I also read he rescued some people in Lake Erie were I live, just a very outstanding nice guy

Smart kid. He first said boil the T1000 and then later freeze. The reason I think this is such a great movie is it is a perfect balance of action spectacle and effects that stand up even now and emotion. I always get upset at the ending. John calling out loudly and quickly "Last One!" as he's on gun reload duties at 28 minutes, awesome interjection of reality, you just know he's slipped right back into all that heavy training his mum had him do a few years before! Such a neat touch in just 1 second! Anyway! Thank you both, I do like that YT seems to leave smaller channels alone, so despite you guys only having 5k (need 50k, you are gold!) do enjoy that you don't have to quite so heavily edit for now, some of the bigger channels had to really cut this movie up and cut out so much, yours is with so much of the movie flow! 1. Linda Hamilton should have been at least an Acadamy Award for best actress. 2. My guess is that stove is hot🧐 3. We have limited AI now, so does China.😱😱 4. Arnold did many, but not all of his own stunts in this movie, including riding the motorcycle. At one point he was injured, and they had to stop production for a couple of weeks so he could recover. 5. Arnold is not left-handed, but the way he works that shotgun is impressive😲 6. The twin security guards also play in "Good Morning Vietnam". 7. GOOF: Enrique's dogs don't respond to "Uncle Bob" as a Terminator.

T2 and Batman Returns were the first movies I remember being hyped about coming out months before they were released. I was 7 when T2 was released but I already owned T1 on VHS and I remember all of the build up to this release. My local theater recently screened it again and, aside from being pleased to see it still holds up 30 years later, it was great to see so many younger people there to watch it.

I looooove that discussion about the plot. It caught me after some 15 years of being a fan of this movie that the the first movie and this one themselves never give away the good vs the bad guy until the conflict explodes. I know people say the campaign was quite clear about it but I wonder if James Cameron wanted that. For us who watched the movie a few years later and not when it launched, it wasn't obvious. I knew because the one we rented on VHS was half-back taped, so when we played it, it was in the middle of the movie, right when John and Arnold figure Sarah's plans. So I always knew he was the good guy, but after seeing it so many times I realized the initial development doesn't really give it away.

Ha! In the documentary "Jurassic Punk" about CGI animator Steve Williams (who invented a lot of the animations used in T2 and Jurassic Park), he said they'd done a lot of work on creating the "water weenie" for "Abyss," so they leveraged that to create the T-1000 liquid metal effect. Still, this film pushed the boundaries of CGI like never before. Really, it reinvented the use of CGI. He said before T2, a scene or two might have a little CGI in it. But in T2, major scenes were full of CGI. He said after the success of T2, other filmmakers took it to ridiculous extremes and a gratuituous amount of poor quality CGI was created, quickly giving it a bad rep.

FYI, Arnold carries a sawed-off version of an antique shotgun which has been in my family for 3 generations. It is the Winchester model 1907, lever-action, 6-shot, designed by John Browning in 1886. Winchester made two versions of this shotgun, in 12ga and also 10ga. It was designed to shoot black powder loads, not modern shot shells. However, while home on leave from the Marine Corps, in November, 1979, I killed my first whitetail deer, using a 12ga slug.

The game John was playing in the arcade was Missel Command - a hold over Atari game (I had it on my 2600). What's great about it is that you can't win. The game is created so that you cannot win. You can only hold out as long as you can, but in the end, the world always blows up. Every. Single. Time. All other games at the time say, "Game Over" when you die or run out of 'lives'. This game says "The End" after the bombs hit. Cause there's nothing left afterwards.

John's age is a continuity error. The movie's supposed to take place in 1994 making John 9 years old but the database states his birthday is 2/28/85 and says he's 10 years old. That means the movie takes place in 1995. Later the terminator says Cyberdyne becomes the biggest supplier of military computer systems within three years, so then judgment day takes play in 1998 and not 1997? In the opening of T3 John says Skynet tried to kill him for the second time when he was 13. So John is 9, 10 and 13 at the same time?

Edward Furlong was perfectly cast for the role at 13, but it's hard to believe he was supposed to be playing a 10yo John Connor...especially with his voice (adorably) breaking throughout the film 😂 Thankfully, it's never explicitly stated that John is 10; it's only hinted at through his DOB. Still, I don't understand why they didn't just write John as a 13yo instead of trying to pass him off as younger 🤷🏻‍♀️ A 13yo John Connor could be just as compelling, if not more so, as puberty could symbolize the volatile changes and triumphs ahead.

People all seem to make the mistake of thinking the marketing ruined the major plot point of reversal. That's not how it went down. The only Terminator ad for judgement day was the one showing Arnold being made in a factory. As well as a video with guns and roses. After the first weekend, that it when they released the other marketing ads that spoiled it. I was there I watched it happen.

It may have gone down differently in other territories. In the UK for example, a popular film magazine went into the ‘making of’ the film with lots of stills and plot points before it was released at the cinema

That makes sense, though I thought the UK didn't get the film until about a month later when the secret was already out. I do remember that after the first weekend, during the week I'd come home from school and suddenly start seeing all the ads spoiling the switch, trying to entice kids by constantly repeating the shot with John saying "my own Terminator!", in like three separate ads. At that point they didn't show the ad from before the first weekend anymore, the one showing a Terminator being made in the factory. P.s. I think what you are doing with your son is wonderful

Not sure if you know the coffee machine bit where the t100 comes out of the floor, its his twin brother as well, the same as later in the film where you see Linda Hamiltons twin sister as well in thd steel mill.

This movie looks as good as the day it came out. They only used CGI on the scenes they couldn't do with practical effects. The scene with the helicopter going under the overpass was done for real by Charles A. “Chuck” Tamburro. Twice.... They had to film different angles. They measured that he would have five feet of clearance.

It’s very impressive, stunts are in danger of being replaced by CGi these days

Fab idea to wear the same costuming, even down to the Public Enemy t-shirt! 👌😁 I highly recommend seeing 'Terminator: Dark Fate' after this. 👍

I never paid attention to the "carcinogen" label in the terminator's visual interface shot in the bar. In 1991 that may have been a little controversial. I wonder if the studio lawyers did any hand wringing before _Terminator 2_ was released.

5:40 Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that you watch Terminator 2 together. How do you explain the Cold War? That is what kids today miss from this film. I hope we did enough, but they can't really feel it at the same time. It's a catch 22.

Love the costumes guys ❤ The dream of older Sarah seeing mummy waitress Sarah with John at the playground...the young Sarah is actually Linda Hamilton's twin sister, also near the end when the T-1000 uses her appearance to lure John. Also the hospital guy that gets killed by the T-1000 impersonating him is also a twin. I know everyone chooses this to be the best which I'm not disputing, it is VERY VERY good but because of Michael Biehn, the first will always be my fav ❤ 👍 hasta la vista 😎

The directors cut would have been a better watch as it delves more into the tension between Sarah and the T 800 and her complete distrust of him and also of the T 1000 starting to glitch and malfunction after its exposure to liquid nitrogen.

Sure, we chose this version for first time viewing so we can watch the directors cut as an additional layer for our second viewing
