Bus, commercial motor vehicle, AIR BRAKES!!!! Air pressure is needed to release spring pressure on the brakes. Springs are applying the brakes by default, it's the air pressure that releases them and allows movement.

This scene alone makes me not ever want to see the whole movie. With air brakes, if you lose air the brakes apply in most cases...im sure a school bus would be set up that way. The driveshaft thing was cute, too. Was the bus suddenly going over 100mph? Now i understand that realistic car chases were never part of terminator canon, But this one simply doesnt do anything for me. I can still watch T2 all day long.

1:00 Funny thing about this scene is that as a school bus driver myself, I know this scene is completely inaccurate. School buses these days have a dual air break system which means that if either the front or the rear brakes go out, the other one will still work. In the scenario that both brakes go out, once the air pressure gets low enough, the spring brakes will automatically be applied stopping the bus.

What I wonder is, how all vehicles start to go like nitro turned on while brakes gone. I mean cars get slower if you don't step on the gas on the straight road. But in the movies, they start to go faster if just brakes get broken. Bus was easily going to end the bridge without the gas. With the increased oil prices, I'd love to learn the science behind it :D

schwartzy65 No... you know a driveshaft of a bus that size is only 14 gauge metal right? You know how thin that is? I’ve seen drive shafts rip apart. Like the card board part of the roll of paper towel... You’re not mechanically inclined to know these things and what can happen at that type of speed if the drive shaft just rips out of the yoke that easily... and somehow didn’t bend in when the terminator pulled on it... and the yoke is attached by the transmission. If this where to actually happen.. the driveshaft were to rip itself apart tube side and to keep rolling. Just won’t have any acceleration.. if this were to happen. Why aren’t trucks doing this all the time than when the drive shaft rips in half... Obv it’s a movie and I’m putting actual logic and real life into a sci fiction movie. Just to show you that whatever action movie you see that involves cars mechanically. This won’t ever happen... EVER..

Honestly, it doesn't really offer much in terms of nostalgia, apart from a few lines from the previous movies here and there. The whole movie plays out like any other generic sci-fi action movie but with Terminator references, and even then they're few and far between. Sure, there are a few cool moments that I kinda enjoyed and it did retcon some of the more controversial decisions made from Rise of the Machines and Salvation, but even then it somehow managed to be both better and worse than the last two movies.
