I hope you all enjoyed my reaction to Terminator Salvation!! I really enjoyed this movie and it was just a lot of fun with some great action moments. I’ll be taking next week off from watching T5 and instead, I’ll be watching The Next Karate Kid so that I can start Cobra Kai soon! Don’t worry though I’ll get right back to the Terminator franchise the week after and I’m actually excited to see what Terminator Genisys brings. Thank you all for watching :)

The original ending was John Connor dying and Marcus taking over as "John Connor" in order to keep the fight going. Unfortunately someone leaked the finale and people online were PISSED at the time, so they had to rewrite the ending.

I think most people don't understand that this movie is more of a separate story taking place within the terminator universe. John is not the main protagonist. Marcus is the protagonist this time, He is brought back against his will by skynet to serve as a ploy to help bring down the resistance. Skynet though fails to successfully control him and despite heavy odds stacked against him he manages to save john conner. Then as a final sacrifice and a shot at the ultimate redemption, he trades his life to ensure the survival of the resistance. This is certainly a lot better than the next two movies which sort of failed the franchise as they served as little more than rehashes of the same story while this one was its own original story.

You`re forgetting when John befriended the "Uncle Bob" T-800, he wasn`t used to having any reason to think of the Terminators as enemies aside from Sarah(Whom, remember, he believed was insane back then!)saying so. John in this Film basically had fought the Machines for so long that any of them having been allies would have been a distant memory and the T-850 in "Rise of the Machines" was deliberately programmed by Future Kate to be cold and aggressive towards John so he`d start to get used to thinking of the Machines as enemies.

Though the liquid machines looks cool and Terminator 2 is a good movie I don't like it. When they introduced the liquid machines it went from sci-fi to fantasy. First one and this are the best ones imo because it's"realistic" machines and no magic robots.

@@chrissibersky4617 Terminator 3 introduced nanites into the series. These could have previously had a different purpose. Instead of controlling other machines, they could have been used in a liquid metal solution to manipulate and control the metal. Well far-fetched even in the Terminator universe, The idea has some there. It's better than liquid metal simply moving somehow. It might make it loosely plausible at least. We're talking about a story where living tissue is on top of a machine with no discernible means of life support. There's been absolutely no attempt to explain that throughout the years. So we might as well stretch our imaginations that little bit further and accept a liquid metal machine as a possibility in this reality. It's all fantasy at some point.

28:30 "OMG", 31:31 "Ow!!", LOL your reactions at those scenes! 28:08 “Is it a T-800? Is it Arnold?” I also really liked your enthusiasm when seeing it was him! Did you know Arnold was not officially in this movie? (The T-800 you see in that scene is actually portrayed by Arnold’s physical body double, Roland Kickinger and the face was mostly recreated through CGI scanned through an old face mold of Arnold’s head from the 1984 Terminator.) Arnold wasn’t in this movie not because he didn’t want to (though I don’t know that for sure), but because he just was primarily unavailable for filming. This movie came out in 2009, and around that time Arnold stepped away from acting to become involved in politics, specifically he was the governor of California from 2003 to 2011. He would eventually return to acting, but this wouldn’t be until 2013 at the latest. I also enjoy your post movie reviews. As for my opinion on Terminator Salvation, I’d guess you could say I’m in the middle, as in “I think it’s an okay movie. There is lots of action, with many flashy terminators (but I think that’s primarily to overcompensate for the absence of Arnold and to me comes off as similar to Transformers), with little to no depth on characters, and because of that the movie comes off as a little too generic for me.” Anyways, great reaction, I like hearing your opinion on the movies you react to, and I’m looking forward to you reacting to Back To The Future III, that will definitely be interesting to check out (especially seeing you're going into without actually having seen the trailer that shows at the end of the second film)

Do not make the mistake of presuming that this movie happens in a timeline directly connected to either terminator 2 or terminator 3. It is a time travel franchise. This could be in the original non paradox timeline where John Connor was naturally occurring, Or, in a timeline spawned after Terminator one but before terminator 2, Where young John Connor never met Uncle Bob. It is not unreasonable for him to need to have a machine acceptance Arc. Terms of differentiation: H-K = Hunter killer, Autonomous non humanoid drones of all varieties, Specialised for sea land and air. Terminator = Humanoid drones in progressively smaller packages as technology develops. Infiltrator = Humanoid terminator designs specialised in infiltration utilising progressively higher technologies of concealment. 1st generations 600+ used rubber but were still over frames that were barely considered human scale. By T800 Production the use of organically grown human Flash as a cybernetic hybrid Over a large human frame was standard. T888 And beyond terminators had developed the ability to utilise all natural human frames as a chassis. This category also includes the controlled cyborgs that were originally human like Marcus and others as well as advanced mimetic poly alloy like the T1000 They are terminators with advanced specialisations in specifically infiltration and Deception.

A lot of people hating the later Terminator films and urging people not to see them and saying how these sequels have ruined the franchise. If you don’t like them, fair enough. Just move on and try and find something you like. Something you can try and be positive about, rather that discouraging and negative about things you dislike. Life is too short and when you come down to it, these are just movies. In this world we live in at the moment, finding enjoyment in the things you like is a helluva lot more fun than seeking out the things you don’t, and bitching about it. Enjoying your reactions to the films you have watched so far. Good job 😃👍🏻

I think the biggest problem this movie had was that it was written with the intention to expand on everything in future movies, something that never happened. It’s like watching a tv show season finale but the show gets cancelled. It felt like this was one of the first movies at the time to do this; to basically walk before it runs. Had they just written it to be a self contained single movie, maybe things get fleshed out more. But hey, that’s for a parallel universe to enjoy. Gonna have to disagree about John Connor’s arc in T2. In that movie he was a kid who rebelled against his perceived psycho mom. Everything he had been told, he didn’t believe. It took the whole movie for him to not just accept that he is the savior of the resistance but that he has to be a hero, too. He also didn’t have a problem accepting a machine as a friend (he didn’t even believe in them until Arnold shows up) but having a father figure, the fact that it ended up being a machine was just some poetic irony.

This film was underrated when it came out because of the backlash against McG`s "Charlie`s Angels" films and the film itself was overshadowed by the behind-the-scenes drama with Christian Bale melting down at one of the light guys interrupting him in between takes that was leaked to the press shortly before the Film came out. Bale apologized publically but the damage was done! To this day, that incident is known as the "Baleout."

Let me begin with saying that I like that young people are getting into the older movies. There are a lot of sci-fi gems in the '80 and '90 movie era. Some suggestions: -Starship Troopers -Totall Recall(original one) -Alien and Aliens As a die-hard terminator fan, the reason why the movies after T2 are hated, is because they destroy the legacy of one the most badass characters in movie history, Sarah Connor. Sarah Connor was all about avoiding the future. The movies after T2 are saying that her actions were futile. They even gave her a meanigless death(cancer) in T3. Yes, John Connor is important but T1 and T2 are movies about Sarah Connor. Someone who goes from being an underpaid, overworked waitress to someone who faces a T-1000 with a shotgun at a steelmill to protect her son, you don't write someone like that off because of cancer... T4 had some good things. I liked the basic state that both armies are in. Humans are trying to organise themselfs, using guerilla warfare tactics. Skynet being in an early technologic state with bulky machines designed to take a hit. Just as the humans, Skynet was also trying to survive. Like you, I also didn't like the moto-terminator. Noticed how John drives one at the end? Very nice of Skynet to give humans the capabilty to drive one, like adding a steeringwheel and a gasthrottle...Also didn't like the portrayal of Skynet being a ordinary villain with that monologue at the end with Marcus. Skynet just wants to exterminate the humans, no need to explain it. The creation of Marcus also doesn't make sense. Why give a machine the abilty to be (to) sentient? This will only lead to that machine joining the humans, because there is no purpose for the machines if Skynet would win the war. That's why Skynet only created one T-1000 with the purpose to send it back in time. Skynet feared that the T-1000 would be to smart, asking himself what his purpose would be after the war is won. There is no purpose for the machines after the war is won, so chances are very high that the T-1000 would join the humans. Keep up the good work and keep exploring those sci-fi gems from the '80 and '90.
@rubenlopez3364

I think Marcus like the first Terminators were designed by the military before the war and he was likely put in some sort of supersoldier program or they had wanted to see if a Human brain would be more effective than a A.I. Brain which would have the more robotic personality. Skynet said they just needed him to be like a tracking beacon to lead a T-800 to John since he would make a better Infiltrator

Kudos for the writers TRYING to move the timeline forward however theres some major issues imo. A global nuclear war.. wheres all the radiation. They didnt want to have to deal with it which is just lazy. In the original draft of the script Marcus replaces and impersonated john connor but they instead just gave him his heart. The "harvester" machine was just inspired by transformers. And I get that time might have altered due to prior films but there are inconsistencies that just grate on me. Reese says in T1 "we were this close to going out but there was one man they taught us climb the walls of the camps, to smash those metal mothers to junk". In an effort to homage things the filmmakers try and condense everything into THEIR film. It's a franchise.. slow down and do a proper trilogy or series. The pay off will always be in the last film in any franchise. I rate T4 "close but no cigar"

Problem with this movie was Skynets' convoluted plan that makes no sense, the stupid influence Transformers had on some of the Terminator designs and the fact the T800 throws Conner around instead of ripping out his heart. In other movies the terminators never got a chance to touch the characters because if they did you know they'd die, they fucked this up in T3 as well because Arnie should have crushed Johns throat instantly on the truck

In my opinion the best to worst terminator movies are. T2, T1, Salvation, T3, T5 is not very good at all and seriously T6 is one of the worst movies ever made but the girl terminator was good. The ending let’s this one down but the first two acts are awesome and what a terminator movie should be. They could still make a good terminator movie in the next 10 years but the sooner the better. They need to spend the movie on a fully realistic de aged Arnold for a few scenes of the movie then the T800 gets his flesh burnt off completely and spends the rest of the movie as the endoskeleton with Arnold’s voice:) would be awesome if they did that.

I probably mentioned this already, but Rise of the Machines, Salvation and Genisys are considered alternate timelines, with Dark Fate being considered the direct sequel to Terminator 2. :)

@@ChrissonatorOFL I think there was a way to open the door for more franchises without killing the legacy. It doesn't have to revolve around John Connor. Anyways, because of Dark Fate, the Terminator franchise is Terminated. No studio will go near it as it's no longer profitable.

Im sure it was "supposed" to be considered as true canon but im pretty sure majority of fans would rather prefer T3 and Salvation as a true canon continuation including me, and for those that hated every movie besides T1 and T2 the true canon would be T2s alternative ending. To tell the truth Dark Fate in terms of story was far less intresting and far more insulting to the franchise than even Genisys was which is freaking insain how a movie under James Cameron supervision could flop harder than Genisys did is beyond me.

If you liked Marcus, you'll like the series of novels that introduce a Terminator model called the I-950. It's a human baby born to human collaborators that was implanted with a chip that makes it loyal to Skynet. It's primary function is spy missions. It's even sexually compatible with humans. It can reproduce. The novels put one up against Sarah about 6 months or a year after the events of T2.

The only cool thing about this movie is, instead of having terminators sent back in time like the first three films to complete a mission, they had a terminator built in the present wake up in the future to complete said mission. Everything else is yawn.

Can't wait for you to polish off the series and am glad you're giving them all a go! Like you said with T3 vs T2, T2 was obviously better, but I still enjoy them all and think they're all worth at least one watch. T2 is just hard to follow, as one of the best movies of all time. My personal favorite after T2 was Genisys, or The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series. Oh, and it's easiest to keep things straight by thinking of everything after T2 as alternate realities, and all just different versions of "T3".

In Genisys they explicitly call out alternate realities: "You're just a relic from a deleted timeline!" I'm pretty sure there is something similar in Dark Fate.

3 was just silly. They crossed a line. 4´s only best parts were the fight at the end and 5 was the nostalgia at the beginning. That´s it! 6 was my personal 3rd place. Just wish they´d stop with all the stupid OTT VFX in the places where they should have either done it practically or not at all

In terms of enjoyment i would agree with u with 6 being the most fun after 2nd, but in terms of story 6 is 100% the WORST of all terminator movies.....atleast Genisys was still somewhat of an authentic termiantor movie, while Dark Fate just went full on woke mode in its own direction while at the same time giving the biggest insult to the franchise in the first 5 minutes.

This is my favorite of the sequels... and you just said everybody says that. I haven't rewatched any of them. I don't like the camera work as much, it tries too hard to feel like a documentary to bring you into the action rather than just giving you a cinematc experience. There is a terrible movie from 1985 called "Hands of Steel" which is a clear Terminator ripoff but with Road Warrior elements and a detective story. While I was watching this movie I kept catching glimpses of that movie I my mind and then when Marcus literally had hands of steel I could not deny that they reclaimed reclaimed the ripoff and made a Hell of an improvement bringing it into canon.

It's strange how while it's Terminator 4 its more of a new beginning, the filmmaker admitted not approaching it like a sequel, for better or for worse. While the next movie Terminator Genisys didn't continue from Terminator Salvation's storyline it portrays what would've been explored in the backstory had it of been made. What occurs at the beginning of Terminator Genisys is essentially a recounting of Judgment Day 1997. Sky Net becomes self-aware Nuke the world, introducing Kyle Reese and John Connor to each other. To the eventual defeat of Sky Net in 2029. Sky Net's back up plan where the Arnold Terminator goes into the time machine to 1984 to target and kill Sarah Connor so John will never be born. Kyle Reese volunteering for John Connor to use the time machine himself time traveling to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor thus setting up the original movie... However right at that moment where Kyle's about to arrive in the past, a certain incident swerves the timeline entirely, but you'll have to see the movie yourself to find that out.

I saw rise of the machines or the next one, and felt it lacked the music at times. Other were cheesy at times and lacked shots. James Cameron wasn't involved. Dark Fate is good, if you just accept the story for what it is. Dark Fate has James Cameron's name all over it.
