Love this video David. Grazie. I love the Metro yet despite having been to Rome every year for the past 14yrs, I still can get a little mixed up. The Metro was somewhat upgraded many years ago to be more similar to Milan, especially with switching Lines A and B. It's really a matter of being aware and reading signage. I still have to look at the signs at the train level to make sure which direction I need to go; Battistini, etc. I always get Metro Line B/ Cavour mixed up. Thank you for the phrase at the end. Oh also, I personally don't feel one side or the other is confusing, there's just more walking. I do buy my 3day or 7day tickets at the machine but make sure no one is around me. Last year it seemed the place was cleaned up with no one hanging about as in past years. I was surprised as I always expect them. If someone does come around me, I tell them to leave or go elsewhere, in Italian. The Metro has gotten cleaner and less troublesome for sure.

Tina G True. I have seen less characters hanging around the machines. Although you do get people asking you for money after they’ve “helped” you. Thanks for the feedback !

Be cautious when crossing the road as cars don’t always stop for you. Watch your pockets on buses and crowded places. Eating outside is not a pleasant experience at least for me. You’re all too often right next to traffic and cigarette smoke

U should Add the Roma-Lido line, which is actually the 4th line (expecting to be renamed Line E in the near Future) that rides from Piramide metro B stop, to Ostia antica and the beaches !

Do the subway stations in Italy have the stops shown above so I I can make sure I am going in the right direction? Also if I get lost I don’t want to look lost 😞 are there employees or subway employees available
@DavidsDoseofItaly Жыл бұрын
Yes, fortunately the stops are quite visible If you get lost, I would simply ask a fellow passenger and usually the Italians are very helpful.

Hi David...enjoy your videos. My husband and I are visiting your lovely country in October 2023. One evening we want to have dinner in Trastevere. Which is the best way to get there from Via Marchee 84? Our hotel looks to be between the Spagna & Barberini Metro stations. Would a taxi make more since then the metro? Thanks
@DavidsDoseofItaly Жыл бұрын
Hi Cynthia ! Thank you 😊 I’d take a taxi to be honest because there are no metro stops in Trastevere unfortunately

@@DavidsDoseofItaly Thanks...I didn't know that. Where is the closest metro stop to Trastevere? If it is not too far we could walk there and then after dinner take a taxi.😄

Thank you! 😃. It's easy really. take the train to the Roma Trastevere station. Then when you exit the station, at the intersection, turn right then left and that is Ettore Rolli.

4 of us (60+ year olds) will be there in May. If we're tired of walking, what's a good way to taxi back "home" What app? Or ...?
@DavidsDoseofItaly5 жыл бұрын
My aunt and other family members were here last September and the poor thing (over 70 years old) had a swollen ankle and asked to be taken back to the hotel via taxi. I called this number, 06 3570. It is quite efficient and even if you don't speak Italian just make sure you tell them your precise location. Otherwise there are two apps that work well. Mytaxi and another called Free now. Our neighbor frequently uses Mytaxi and is happy with it.

Does the price of ticket on metro depend upon the distance between the two stations or just 1 ticket of fixed price get you between any two stations?

No, the price is the same. you can go from Ostia to Rebibbia on the same ticket.

Hi David! Can you do a ride-thru video of taking the train between Fiumicino Airport and Rome-Ostiense? This can also be considered an airport-to-city-center type of trip, isn't it? No one's done that yet, I think. Thanks! - Red
@DavidsDoseofItaly2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Possibly, what specifically would you want to see in that video ?
@redcomusic2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidsDoseofItaly Just the basics...and either direction. Where the stations are, how to buy tickets, what you'll see on the route, etc. seats, train type and all that good stuff. I think people are curious once they land in Fiumicino, what the Ostiense train is and where it goes. Especially if they're staying at a hotel near the Pyramid or, in my case usually, staying in the Lido area. Ciao!
