Amazing Places on Our Planet

Күн бұрын

The Terracotta Army was created during the reign of the first emperor of China's Qin dynasty (221-207 B.C.), to protect the emperor's tomb. 700,000 people probably worked on the site, near the city of Xian, for almost three decades. More than 8000 figures have been excavated so far. The tomb has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Recorded October 2015 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

Incredible..I've seen photos but they don't do justice to the scale...this is a monument to mankind...despite all the hype in the west, I admire China for risking alternatives from their own class conscious, culturally divisive, culture as a means of maintaining regional peace, and I think we westerners totally underestimate the intelligence and determination of the Chinese people

Milosh, it is simply mind-blowing to contemplate what ancient civilizations accomplished. Your high quality images and steady focus, uncluttered by voice-over, is the perfect medium for contemplating these wonders. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to show them.

+Amazing Places on our Planet - Milosh, this video and your latest one, Tiger Leaping Gorge, have just about made my mind up to make a visit to China my next (for me) exotic trip. We try to take one big trip a year and was thinking of either India or China. My wife has the casting vote and I know she wont choose India! If you could find the time, could you please give me a hint or two about any problems we might face visiting China. Visa issues, accommodations etc, We normally travel alone, not with an organized group, but if we have to, we would do it that way!I will add an email address you could use if you would rater not reply here. If this is a problem, or you are too busy, that's fine, I understand. h0varlet@yahoo.com(that second "letter" is the number 0 )Thanks, Drew Irving

+Amazing Places on our Planet The gem of the place is the tomb of the Emperor Qin. It is believed that he has designed his resting place in the afterlife to look like the universe, with precious stones shimmering in the ceiling representing the stars of the night sky and rivers of mercury representing the milky way. But it is also recorded in the Book of Sima Qian, an ancient historian, that he also installed booby traps that would kill anyone trying to enter. Current team involved in the excavation has decided for the time being, not to excavate it, as present technology would not be able to preserve the colours - as happened in the excavation of the terra-cotta warriors whose colours immediately disappeared upon exposure to the elements - and also detectors have found high levels of mercury surrounding his tomb. So they believe Sima Qian might be right afterall. Hence the tomb will be spookier!

I had a feeling that each statues represent real people who are really closed to the emperor. He built a statue for them so they could all stay with him in eternity, the emperor really cherished all these individuals, they were the people who helped him achieved his goals, hence why each statues has different figure specially the face because if they are normal statues most artist will just make them all look the same.

They're amazing. Looking at that, seems the armour is different for each soldier too. You should add some blurb in the discription on why it was all done. I'm guessing some emperor wanted to take his army to the afterlife or something.

Sunny Sunlin you are wrong. Terracotta army was found in lower of pyramit(kurgan). kurgan is a grave that covers with soil hill. we see that building in a middle asia anatolia siberia European even iceland. kurgan(you call pyramit) is a euroasian culture not chinese. lower of chinese we dont see like this culture.

HAHAHA So you think only Mid asia had kurgan? Nearly all the great Chinese emperor had kurgan or pyramit except Qing dynasty emperor(because they are Manchus), and you know what, even Japan has a historical period called Kofun, which means Era of Great Tombs, you dont know any Chinese history
