Good job on this video again Hans. The old split bronze cylinder ring could be a ferrule, from walking stick or similar. The round bronze ring could have been one of many sewn to a leather vest to be type of early chain mail (these were common around roman times) but also had other uses. The broken bronze piece with pin hole might be part of fibula, as shape and thickness variation seems wrong for buckle. Thanks for sharing your day. HH Jon

Hi Hans, You do such a nice job on the videos. I don't know how you fixed the camera so that you could film yourself as you walked along but it was about the best I have seen anyone do. Good work. I have been out a couple times in the last few days and only found modern money and costume jewelry. It makes me appreciate all the more that you can find the ancient pieces. Here's hoping you will find another fibula brooch or anything else on your wish list. I don't comment often but just know I am watching your videos as your post them. All the best of luck

Hello Hans! I finally had time to take in yet another great hunt! I am impressed with the amount of Artifacts coming out of those fields! I can only imaging a sometimes frazzled Archeologist! Lol! Glad to see its you keeping them busy! Do the scientist's give you a year end revue of your finds or conclusive details as to what your finding in a timeline type fashion? Best to you Hans and your next hunt ! -Jeff

hello jeff :) thank you, i'm glad to hear that you like my vid! i'm as impressed with the amount of finds as you are. . .i have the honor and luck to be able to detect an area like this with so much history and activity in the past. . .haha. . yes it's not easy for the archaeologists. . unfortunately archaeologie isn't very good funded by the government here in germany. the scientists are permanently understaffed and that's why they are dependent on volunteers. but the volunteers of course cause even more work. . .thats why i have to wait a long time for a scientific analysis of some finds. . .i haven't got a problem with that as i'm totally aware of the reason. thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best and good luck on your next hunt! Hi Hans - My best find this year has been your videos. Very enjoyable, informative and well presented. And after watching them I am not so quick to toss out my trash pile. But I was wondering why the nails you find, they appear to be hand forged and about 5cm long, end up in your trash pile? On this side of the pond they would be keepers. Either way, thank you for your excellent videos. - Fred

Nice hunt!! Congrats on your silver hammy, very nice. Were you able to get a time period on the thimble? The book key was an awesome find. Who knows but that key could have belong to Arminius. Wishful thinking I know, but you never know!!! Hope all is well and as always...GL/HH
@TerraGermaniaTG10 жыл бұрын
thank you my friend! not really. . .it's not easy to define the exact age of these thimbles as they were made for a couple of centuries with the same design. . .i would guess that it's from the 1700s as most of my finds on this field are from this time span. i love the key! it's a special find and i like your idea about the origin of it :) all is well, thank you hope with you, too :) thank you for watching and commenting james! best wishes, GL&HH! hans

Where would a clan of Celts find shelter on a cold and windy day??? Australian Aboriginals favoured rock shelters. Would Celts?? A rock shelter can be anything from an overhanging rock preferably large and curved, giving shelter from the worst prevailing weather, facing the sun, to a cave. A very distant uncle of mine was an Ansbach Bayreuth dragoon, so love that silber coin.

Hans- Do you know what those large hand made nails were used for?
@TerraGermaniaTG7 жыл бұрын
hello zach, these are most likely from buildings as they are quite massive. It's possible that they even date back to the late roman period. thank you for watching!
@thelaughinghyenas79628 жыл бұрын
That bullet is roughly from 1850. More modern than 1800 and less than 1880 or 1890. Of course some hunter could have kept an old gun for many decades. I have seen bullets that look a lot like that from the US Civil War. If you had the diameter it would be easier to make a good guess.
@TerraGermaniaTG8 жыл бұрын
I should start to measure these bullets. all I can say is that there is a huge variety of musket balls of different sizes here in germany. thank you for watching!
@thelaughinghyenas79628 жыл бұрын
