I totally agree. I have been in this hobby 40+ years and have never sold anything and never done videos to get clicks to make money. 😬. I think a lot of UK yt detecting channels fake finding good things to get views. 😬. I am not grouping all channels with this view just some. 😳.

Hiya Mate. Missed you. Good to see you back. The process of turning the soil over for planting crops is called tilling. A modern practice in agriculture is known as "No till". The purpose of this is to plant over an area that already has a vegetative cover. The vegetative cover is maintained to help protect stream and rivers from sediment (dirt or soil particles) from running off the area where planting is occurring. Nutrients from fertilizers and other agricultural chemicals like to attach themselves chemically to soil particles and then get washed by rain into streams. The nutrients can cause problems in the streams as they can cause algae and other plants in the streams to proliferate which can cause problems to fish and other aquatic life. Older plowing (US), ploughing(UK), or Pflugen typically used a bottom plow which would turn the soil over to a depth of about 12 inches- 15 inches or 30 - 40cm. That is why if you dig a hole in a farm field the black dirt is at the top (lots of organics) and then the colour (for my Britsh friends)of the soil will change when you dig down a bit. This is not the same everwhere, but it is typical in a tilled field. Below that is the subsoil which is usually a different color (for my American friends), typically lighter as the clay has been washed out, but only about 5-10 cm thick. Below that then it typically gets heavy going because of the clay. I apologiz(s)e for the environmental science discourse, but your Bauer friend is using No Till practices. Kudos to him.

hello my friend, thank you for watching and for your interesting and detailed comment. I have learned a bit about agriculture ever since I speak to farmers because of metal detecting. it's a science.

Great video, Hans. The area you detect is very beautiful and I really enjoy the flowers and other non-detecting things that appear in your videos. I find them very calming. The item which looked like it may have been hinged looked to me like it could have been a book clasp or harness. With the incised decoration I suggest it was medieval (or less likely Roman)
@TerraGermaniaTG Жыл бұрын
thank you for watching and for your kind comment my friend. I'm glad you like my videos :) The item you are referring to is indeed a medieval book clasp. I had that confirmed by an archaeologist.

It is always delightful to see your posts. Thank you, danke. Scarifying is a word for shallow scratching up the soil used here in the Mallee. Crops aren’t planted as deeply as they used to be, from what I gather. And grain types like wheat are now grown to shorter lengths, to avoid the crop falling over.
