Excellent review. Thank you. Yet another all NVMe NAS that cannot fully saturate a 10gb network port. We are to the point where one good NVMe drive can push enough data to do this yet most of the NAS units I have seen reviewed so far, cant do it with 4, 6 or even 8 of them. I shall continue waiting for the first one.

Love your videos! I would love to see more tutorials on Jellyfin and Truenas scale. Like initial setup, plugins, remote access tutorials (Tailscale ones) etc. Tbh I don't like the turnkey NAS OS'es, they only want to use their ecosystem. You should talk on every review of a turnkey about if it is possible to install different OS'es. (My opinion don't hate on the comment please)

Love this channel, recently discovered it while looking at what my options for NAS were for both backup and plex. Watched some other videos of yours such as 'Should You Use SSD In Your NAS? LET'S TALK" and I'm not quite sure what the best solution for my needs would be. My aim is to have a +/- 10 to 20 TB NAS though I'm still not sure if hybrid or full ssd is the way to go. Noise would indeed be a factor since its at home with limited space to store said NAS. Could you help recommend a best value for money setup? I'll gladly use your affiliate links to buy the suggested products :)

Do you recommend the MAX edition from Terramaster F6-424 for transcoding 4k? Or there is better? Please advise

is there any place in UK i can find Ugreen Nas or the newline up of Qnap TS432X to buy it ???

Nice review, but I'm not buying anything from a Russian company, especially not internet devices. For one I don't want any of my money to go towards the invasion of Ukraine, secondly we have had plenty of stories about Russian hacks, remember Kaspersky antivirus? The US Commerce Department banned Kaspersky from selling or distributing software to US customers in June 2024, citing national security concerns, and that was an antivirus company.

I would add anyone selling them gun powder... to my do not buy nas list...

But does it support ecc?
@wojtek-33Ай бұрын
No, very few Intel CPUs used a Nas will support ECC. AMD CPUs support it, but that doesn't mean it's implemented correctly by the motherboard or system manufacturer.

Why do I predominantly hear/see about Plex on this channel? There are Jellyfin videos (thx for those) but they are vastly outnumbered. Why is that? Are you sponsored by Plex, who went commercial and made life complicated?
@ufomismАй бұрын
Because Plex is far more popular than Jellyfin. Plex had 16 million monthly active users in 2022, Jellyfin isn’t even close.

It's a good Q @marcel-dg3qd and it's partially (as @ufomism states) about making videos that people ask for/want, but also because I can only really make 1 video love every 1-2 days (without it hurting the algorithm and muddling it's base), so.. let's say 365 days becomes around 180+ vids a year. There is around 50-60 prominent releases per year in storage (vague estimate I know), then 50-60 'how tos' and 'hacks' vids. A handful of big events (CES, Computex, IFA, brand annual events) that each have a cluster of videos, maybe a few new videos along the way. It all adds up. So in the end, despite it seemingly like there is tonnes of space to make videos (and generally I like to put a 'media test' vid out just after a new thing is releases, as then people have that information before buying/wasting their money... So that means I have to go by the numbers and Plex is still 'the' multimedia choice for most users. I'll run a poll for you on the community page and see what users think/say.

Any rumors on new Synology and QNAP models to be released toward the end of 2024?
@zenos9302Ай бұрын
Stay far away from Synology =D

IMHO QNAP already has a great selection the 464 and 453e on the one end will do more than most smb and home users want. If you want the best nothing will beat the 874 for anything you want to do...
