Shows three new buildings based on Hirst Arts molds. These buildings are cast as whole structures using resin plastic and foam to increase durability, rate of production and time dedicated to design and detail. These buildings are suited for 28mm - 30mm gaming systems such as LOTR and Warhammer.
Photos of these buildings are on the TerranScapes Structures page:

Mike, you never cease to amaze me, great job on these buildings, if you are going to make another building, I think a wall, fountain or another tower will be a great addition to your set :) , looking forward to more videos.

Those are fantastic! I can't believe you were able to cast that mausoleum in one piece. The details and undercuts in that look like they would have been nearly impossible to pull out of the mold. Really looking forward to the casting overview. Very timely, as I have some complicated things I want to dup.

These are really cool. I don't cast and build for money so I enjoy it and will be casting brick by brick. I see your point though, if I was selling them then I would cast in one piece like you have. I also like having an interior, especially with the new molds Bruce is making, the tavern molds, my building will now have a lot in them.

very impressive clean casts. well done. i hear you about mould warping with separate parts. the advantage i like about multi part is that if you do get bubbles on a part you dont loose the entire model, you just replace the part, but time consuming moulding parts as opposed to one building..if your technique gives results like that most of the time im all ears!! cant wait, thanks for posting

WOW, i didn't know that you originally built them piece by piece! Good thinking to cast them, and they look great as always!

I've been going back through your older stuff looking for a little inspiration. This'll do it! You said that you felt the hirst arts buildings seemed to be lacking a base or foundation, but I've always thought that the exterior walls lacked depth. Window sills are flush with the wall and windows tend to be flush with the window sill. The mausoleum piece is still superb.

Absolutely awesoem building pieces :) did you have to sculpt the shrouded figures on your "shrine" building? never cease to amaze me with your terrain pieces, wish i had teh materials and knowhow to do these buildings as you can only do so much with corugated cardboard lol

Does this happen with plaster too ? ( Deterioration) or only with liquid resin? Cause logically resin casted molds would be a lot more durable I also understand that the process would be a lot more complex,since it would require a vacum container for dealing with potencial air bubbles

spentfromnz No, not in a 'store' manner. But I might be selling some as a one off opportunity. If so, I'll mention it in a video in the not too distant future. Hopefully. ;)

Very nice work! When will your store be open again? Also, could these be something that you start to produce in bulk, enabling your customers to purchase the unfinished versions at all times, rather than waiting for the store to open?

***** Thanks! How resillient / heavy is it? I am planning a rather large diorama ( the structure itself will be at lest 100/100cm ) so I have to take the weight into account :)
@Terranscapes
@Terranscapes 9 жыл бұрын
Adam Rzymowski Resiliency and weight will be determined by the wall thickness mostly. Saying that, it is quite strong but it could deform if a lot of weight is supported by thin walls. You could cast the wall thinly and then use wood bracing behind it to provide needed support. How you tackle it will be based on your funds. :) If you can cast the walls thick enough it might be a faster build. For specifics on it's density, I would look at it's technical data. Then you do the calculations for total weight. You can always contact Smooth-On directly. They are very helpful. There are fillers for Smooth-cast to reduce its weight as well. There is no recipe for a project. You will have to assess the options and your needs and choose the best solution. Saying that, don't forget to do some mock ups for casting and see how they come out. Better to spend a little time and money testing, rather than cast up a gallon and find it won't work. ;) Hope that helps a little. I'd love to see the diorama when it is finished.

If you left off the hooded figures on the one you call "the shrine" it would make a good grain silo. Great work, btw. Love watching your videos. I'm and RPGer though, not a wargamer (yet). But we use a "gridless" system, where we use measuring sticks or a tape measure like war gamers do. Watching these TerranScapes video causes me to drool... I've noticed the store is still closed, is it ever going to open again?

Use Merlin's Magic plaster. It's a lot more durable. Also, I hardly ever make a tower or anything like that, that I can't take apart and put PC's in.
@Terranscapes
@Terranscapes 10 жыл бұрын
Merlin's Magic is a great plaster. It can get expensive however when using large volumes. I totally understand about interior access. These were designed for games like Warhammer Fantasy where interiors are not needed. For role playing games and skirmish styles however, interiors would be nice. :)

I play Warhammer too, with interiors. I have to give the orcs something to trash and loot. LOL
