The Secret Level There are ways to farm the pirates indefinitely because they spawn in those flinging boats... And with some conveyor belts and an better tier armor and a place to trap them and to trap the boat... U can easily farm tons of platinum per hour... U just gotta do this very down in the surface to reduce mob spawn... And something to trap automatically the boat... And use the slime staff(of course)... This is not a glitch... And glitches are in the game so that's not cheating... U can't possibly say that hoik is a glitch for example...

So I know this vid's a little old now, but having only recently delved into Terraria myself I referenced your video for the creation of my own money farm. I created it in the underground jungle biome, used a broken slime staff, necro scroll, the scarab papyrus, and a pygmy necklace, greedy ring, and stardust armor. I also used some Lihzard (sp?) bricks in the creation of the 'spawning pool' as I've heard it increases spawn rates, and of course set up a water candle. I did not use any potions, however. Still, I managed to rake in 75p and some change in a little under an hour. I'd say 50-55 minutes. So thanks for the tips. This'll definitely go a long way toward reforging some of those pricey items.

you cant do this pre-hardmode since the lucky coin/greedyring comes from pirate invasion which is a hardmode event.

lucky coin/greedy ring is not necesary for a money farm. it's a huge bonus but not needed. you will need some money to prior to hard mode so its also good to build a farm

Most money making strats pre-hardmode aren't as easy and require a lot of effort. IE build up lots of boss summoning items kill tons of bosses or use statues. Both require the person present to do them, vs this is an afkable event right as soon as hardmode starts.

This is very efficient, one thing people often miss out is critters tho, you could put bird or bunny statues and leave your character afk while swinging the bug net. I did this with only bird statues and went to the bathroom for around 2-4 minutes and I caught around 300-400 birdѕ. It was only 3 bird statues only linked to a 1 second timer, there are artificial timers that surpass the 1 second timer by a lot, for example the descending bats and pressure plates strategy. Each bird sells for 5 silver, so 300x5= 1500 silver 1500/100= 15 gold. It's not that much I know but it will definitely help if trying to maximize gold making. Remember that it was only linked to a 1 second timer. The descending bats activate really fast, giving out around 6 inputs per second, instead of 1. Thus if done with that the gaining would be increased to about 90-100 gold per those 2-4 minutes. Again still not much but it definitely will maximize gold gaining. Have a good day :)

Ghardyne it really doesn’t matter how you shape it all you need is 100 jungle blocks and I’d say around 100 to 150 water space. Then stand in any amount of water. Place plate from show he does it so the arimpanas don’t swim away

Are you able to make a short video just showing this farm in operation, with the DPS, Enemies Nearby, and Ingame Clock information showing? It would be very useful for comparing it to other farms, especially on PS4. I.e., my current farm seems to get comparable money, w/ ~20-28 enemies nearby at a time, and ranges from 85-~200 DPS depending on how many enemies are dead / respawning. Also, the DPS is the same(which would seem to imply the lucky coin payout is the same) regardless of whether there's 1-2 slimes or 10.

I saw someone mention a pre hardmode farm and just a more reasonable farm in general. you've gotten the best out of the way but now maybe something the general public can accomplish not just min maxers. The Lucky Coin is a 1:4000 drop from the pirate invasion and that's just 1 of 3 ingredients in the Greedy Ring. By time you have all that I imagine you'd have a healthy stack of plat.

What do you do in this game other than grind? If you want high yeild you have to put in work sometimes. The farms youd have to make to get the greedy ring and the slime staff are actually extremely easy to make. If you want a tip, build a pyramid mob grinder on the edge of the ocean biome with a house in it so it registers for pirate invasions. Then, when the invasion happens and the pirates die from your trap, since theyre counted as mobs in an ocean biome they will sometimes drop the maps for their own invasions. So you can knock out two farms in one as long as you have a map to start with. As for the slime staff, in the same area you have this ocean pirate invasion farm going, you can use a teleporter hoik on a dummy with presure plates (mappy is the youtuber i'd look up to see how this is made if you're not familiar. teleporter engines I believe its called) connected to 3 slime statues with half a bucket of lava in the slime chamber to not destroy the gell/staff. I personally just did this whole grind tree and it feels really rewarding having a farm that can generate 1-2 plat every few minutes.

Ideally you want both, since the items can be stacked, it gives you an extra minion. You don't have to though, you'll still get a lot if you use just one :)

No worries Fungorrr, I wouldn't recommend using buckets as it would take a lot of time or a lot of buckets. Generally I use an Inlet and Outlet Pump setup and ideally find enough water nearby that I can pump into the farm. You could also use the liquid farm technique from my first how to episode and just detach the wires and pumps when it's full. I believe the Bottomless Water Bucket works the same way as well. Doing fish quests can yield you such awesome reward that can pour water in for as long as you want, and there are other cool rewards as well, you just have to be patient and fish.

Hi, amazing job, thanks! I have several question on you :) . 1) Is this working for a long term AFK farming? Like over night etc.? Also in cases of Blood Moon and Solar Eclipse events? 2) Can enemies which goes through tiles spawn with your setup? 3) If yes, than - let's say I'm on Expert hardmode world. What would be the best setup for long term AFK farming - so with protection against enemies which goes through blocks? I'd recommend to hook yourself up to the ground so you won't move when something hit you. Setup some traps around you so if there is anything around you it will get killed. Use Shiny Stone from Golem instead of the boots (which you don't need when you don't move, while you need regenaration). Stand up in a honey and not water. I've got another questions like why not to use statues or if you tried oposite approach - to earn money by killing enemies as fast as possible so get money from Lucky Coin + money dropped from enemies, but I've looked for the answer on the wiki. For those interested: Enemies spawned from statues does not drop any money wven with Lucky Coin. And avarege yield per one hit from Lucky Coin is 6 silver and 9 copper. Which is way more then money dropped by the enemies itself. Anway, If you would have time to answer 1) a 2) I'd be happy, thanks :) .

1) I think this works even better during a blood moon. And, since it's underground, you won't get any solar eclipse mobs anyway. 2) As long as you've filled in every block in the spawn radius, you won't get any worms or other mobs that can pass through blocks. 3) Just make sure you've filled in every space outside the pool area, and you should be able to afk indefinitely.

Does it still work? My Farm spawns these fishes the whole time, 28 of these fishes are being damadged the whole time: Yeah it works! But the fishes only drop 3 Silver each = 1 Gold each 2 min. I took this, added a pirate invasion grinder to the top of it, and i get another 12 platinum per hour, and i had a crystal farm attached which got me another 2 platinum per hour, a chlorophyte which i have no idea how much money it makes because i don't sell it, and a golem farm which gets me an extra 5 platinum per hour, but you can't afk this, you have to keep hitting switches

hi i know this is an old comment but the reason you use a broken staff is because it reduces the damage done. you want the slimes to be able to hit the mobs as many times as possible before they die, giving more chances for the lucky coin to proc. it makes it so enemies drop coins when they are damaged, even if the damage hits for a 1

It doesn't need to be in the underground jungle, but you *do* need enough jungle blocks (either jungle grass or temple blocks) to make the area a jungle biome. I think 80 blocks is the minimum. Yes, you use the staff to summon the slimes into the tank.

use battle potions and get a blue flame candle from the dungeon. they helped me with spawn rates. and the bee armour works just less summons. also useing 80 blocks of jungle biome increases spawn rate too. that Lihzahrd Brick. just have on sides of the water.

For some reason this design doesn't work if you place walls instead of blocks in all the surrounding caves (trying to save time). The walls stop NPCs spawning, but arapaimas / any fish don't spawn at all in the pool.

ok last time im saying this the best money farm is using a ammo box, -random number% ammo consumption gear, and a platinum coin place the coin somewhere in the air, and every time it drops, break it then place it again. the -% ammo consumption gear makes the coin have a chance not to drop, duplicating it. since the coin gun is a thing it makes coins be considered AMMO. do you see where im going?

managed to get the farm working for the most part I just seem to get a lot less than 50k plat per hour. more like 10+ per hour (not including drops). Didn´t use any buff potions but do have a water candle at the side. Other than that. the farm works perfectly for me. 10 plat per hour is still pretty good as not more is needed if you don´t mind leaving your pc running for a couple hours at a time while doing other stuff. I think the reason I´m getting less if because the enemies respawn to slowly as they arn´t dieing quickly due to the slimes only dealing 1 damage per hit its kind of odd (used cell phone to check the amount of enemies hanging around 10 at most, usually around 4 sometimes even 2 for a few seconds before more decide to spawn). I may need to make to pool a little bigger. Not sure if that would make a difference. After some more modifications I believe the reason I´m getting less maybe that you can only get the full 50 plat per hour on expert due to the additional hp making the enemies last longer. Does anyone know if monster spawn faster on expert?

I can say personally I built this on a non-expert world and I don't think im getting 50p an hour, but I believe im somewhere close to it (prob 45-40) and I only have platforms that are near the kill area, not stretching all the way down. My suggestion is to make the pool larger than he states in the video. Specifically, so that there are no blocks within 45 blocks below the afk player. The big key for me is the depth, removing the platforms, and making the walls surrounding the pool out of stone. I think this because those are the only differences between gurns farm and my farm, however I do not get any enemies in mine apart from arapaimas and jellyfish. I believe the mudblocks match the biome and therefore spawn mobs, whereas using lizhard blocks will make it a jungle biome but wont spawn jungle mobs. Arapaimas only spawn condition is water and not a jungle based block, as seen by putting 80 lizhard block above the ocean biome (arapaimas will spawn but no other jungle creature). I know this comment is kinda all over the place but I hope it makes sense. TLDR; Make it so that the only spawnable area below your character is water. Make the bottom blocks of the farm out of the spawn range (I think its 45 blocks below).

Can anyone confirm if this still works? I built it just like he did, I have all the gear, followed everything to the letter and I only get about 10 platinum per hour. I’m getting all the same spawns and at what looks like the same rate, but just not getting as much coin. Did the developers nerf the lucky coin?

u can do a variant of this farm in the ocean-while it is not as efficent-u dont have to have as many things-dont have to have slime staff,jungle biome/hardmode-its a food way ro farm fins and diving helmet early on and can make it out of jungle and lava to prepare for hardmode fishys:)

set up a farm in the ocean built it a way to sharks dont seem to be spawning. not in expert. and only useing bee gear with 2 minions on accessories. with blue flame and spaen rate potion. in 10 mins got 9p 16g. i expect doing in expert and haveing 3 more minions from other sources will yeld me far more plat. saying this is by far best farm is silly as mine took 20 mins to set up.

Yep just finished it yesterday. On non-expert makes around 40-45 plat an hour.

it does work. I had problems with mobs stucking on slopes. Instead of slopes you should have solid rectangle. I have an issue with this ima...after some time fishes stop coming to me. Piranhas and angler fishes wont come at all.

How do you prevent against Wraiths spawning and just killing you while you're AFK'ing? Thanks! edit - Oops, wrong video. But maybe you know the answer? I'm set up on the edge of the world with a manmade jungle biome, but at night, Wraiths sometimes spawn and destroy me, seeing as I'm AFK. Thanks!

Wraiths don't spawn underground, which is another great advantage to this farm setup that I didn't mention :)

Worms shouldn't spawn, I have never seen one as of yet so if they do it must be extremely rare as I have spent countless hours in that farm. Also wraiths don't spawn underground.

I built it, and it works great, but after 2 or a 3 minutes of afk, a digger will consistently spawn and kill me. Any idea how to prevent them spawning?

TheRedstoneApocalypse maybe you made a small mistake and the arapaimas dont spawn fast enough. this gives the game the chance to spawn different mobs

theres the problem, the horizontal line isn't wide enough, try making it 160x100, That shoud work.

actually... it's 168x94 Whenever I'm doing this, I just make the box 175x100. That gives me a little bit of a 'buffer' so that I know I can move around a little bit in the afk area.

If you're wanting an easy way to acquire it, just find a slime statue and hook it up to a timer in a pool of lava, and leave it running for a while. It'll take some time but it's better than the other ways of getting one.
