Thank you, Relogic. Over the course of nearly a decade you turned your little project into a gigantic masterpiece. You could've put the updates up for sale as DLC and made millions doing so, but you didn't. The world doesn't deserve Relogic.

If it was DLC it wouldn't make them as much money because people wouldn't buy it. Part of their monetary success is precisely because they didn't make DLC which made people return to the game, invite friends, people making new videos which resulted in newer players and their friends, etc, etc. DLC would've probably killed the game financially. No millions. Just a dead project that would maybe turn a profit thanks to the early hype. Also DLC should not be looked at as bad. Bad DLC should be looked at as bad. Gamers should stop buying DLC before reviewers give a thorough review of it so that it forces studios to actually put a lot of effort into DLC so that it's worth the money. Consumers are the reason for bad business practices. Not the companies. When people start having some god damn patience is when you'll see monetization of video games see a new era. So don't bash DLC. DLC is fine. Encourage good consumer behavior instead. Don't hype before you see a product. Don't buy until that product exists and you have confirmation from a reliable source. Let people play the game for 50 hours before they say "it's good" and you buy it so that it actually means something. Same goes for movies and any other product/service that exists. Bad consumers result in bad business practices because if you don't play by those bad practices, you lose to those who do. Hate the players, not the developers. In summary: Re-Logic wouldn't've made millions with DLC. They would've shut the project down long ago with DLC.

@@SiMeGamer Even if they did go down the path of making the updates DLC, not only would it have made them much less money. But the game would be seen as a lot more dated too. Without the plethora of resources the game gives you with progression is what makes Terraria. And if it was infact DLC, I'd argue it would have been an example of bad DLC. It's like making players pay to play each world in a Mario Game, or making people pay for chapters in an RPG.

It's not just extra side content. It changes the entirety of it. With Mario I would only agree if it meant the base world of the game had a complete story on its own. If the extra worlds had enough content to justify the price of the DLC WITHOUT affect the core game (the non-DLC one) then it could potentially be perfectly fine. From what I know about Mario though you would be correct because the story doesn't end until the last world so making it DLC would make it an incomplete game to begin with.

When I first picked up 1.2 on mobile I made a character with blue hair. He became a hero of a village full of box houses. Years later I picked up 1.3 on PC and used that character until 1.4 released. You guys at Re-Logic have given me more memories than any other game company. It’s sad to see an end to the games content update, but the memories I have made and will make will never end!
