I think for the wall of flesh you should try using the instant exploding dynamite, it would be really interesting to try since normally you have to try and guess where the wall will be, but with this you have to deal with shimmer and try not to get killed by the wall while getting close enough to hit it, without having to clear the shimmer, although all of this depends on if the dynamite will damage enemies in the underworld with shimmer

Strangely, this reminds me of Metroid - areas that you previously accessed are locked off when they flood with shimmer, forcing you to find new ways around. Of course, the solution here is mostly to dig more, but I did appreciate the subtler discoveries, like using a hook while falling into shimmer or engineering protected pockets of air.

If I had to hazard a guess, the weird momentum at 8:22 was from shimmer making you faze through objects while also deactivating your tools and stuff, combined with there being a hook on a block. Since the hook was grappled onto something that wasn't solid, it went away and forced you in that direction Basically the same reason for why opening a door you're grappled on makes you move in that direction

Don't Dig Up is a really cool remix. Duke Fishron drops the Aqua Scepter and it's one of the best weapons in the game! The selection of Boggly Woods as a track for this video really fits. Shimmer's really invocative of the whole style of that area, it feels like.

I think I have an answer as to how the surface drained. Whenever shimmer flowe into a sprite (mostly demon alters here) that also has lava in it, it deletes the shimmer, but not the lava. I found this out when making my own shimmer world and saw the surface keep emptying of shimmer.

You should definitely try to get a star cloak. If you shimmer it, it becomes a shimmer cloak that makes you immune to shimmer phasing. Getting it will make the run so much easier.

pretty sure you get demounted in shimmer no matter if cloak or not just checked it and you actually can swim in it but you do need the cloak and you can't really go down on it else the clak gets used and you get shimmered

I think fishing in lava could be really good here. wet bombs that you can make into dry bombs, plus Superheated Blood for zooming around in hell. you would need to drain a big portion of shimmer to stop the hell critters from turning into faelings though

One tactic that might help prevent shimmer floods reaching vital areas is adding doors every now and then in your passageways, they'll be a barricade and prevent the shimmer leaking down further in the case of disaster

I have an idea if you want to do another liquid themed playthrough after you finished this one. You take the biggest brush size in TEdit and then add a layer lava, then Shimmer, then again lava and then again shimmer and so on. This could be a fun playthrough combining the mechanics of this one and the lava one.

I know you just started this, but I have a playthrough idea although it might not be possible to do "Terraria, but crawltipedes are always active" The name speaks for itself, you can't go in the air for 3 seconds or you will be snapped in half by a crawltipede. You could also do terraria w/o jumping but I feel this would be much more interesting. You can jump, it's just that you can't stay in the air for too long. There is one rule: you must have shiny red balloon equipped at all times, 1. Because I don't know if the maximum player jump height without anything can trigger crawltipedes 2. It gives the crawltipedes more time to kill you. Also, Taking advantage of the fact that you almost always play classic mode, you could give yourself a demon heart so that the shiny red balloon won't really effect the amount of accessory slots due to you only being able to have 6 accessory slots in expert and master mode since you would still have five accessory slots left just like in classic mode. I don't know if it would be possible to do this since I have never hacked/ modded myself, but you should try it anyway because I think it would be quite interesting.
