Using wet/dry sandpaper and water helps keep the sanding dust under control. Just remember to let it dry again completely before sealing.

Thanks for the tip on the dust and ensuring the piece is completely dry before sealing, that is a very good point.

Lovely bowl and coasters. Claire's Crafty Corner and Louise Singleton have both done terrazzo pours. Louise did one with broken glass pieces then sanded. Very informative!

I saw a video that Claire did, she seemed to be having issues as well. She did quite a bit of sanding. I don't think I have seen Louise's video. I did go looking for some but I didn't get any new tips or tricks to help me out. That's okay, one day I will figure out the easiest way to sand pieces like this.

On a flat surface you can pour a thin layer of pva glue onto your mold and put your chips down let that dry and then pour your mixture on top after it’s cured really good you can just peel the glue off and the chips that had it on them are bright and happy! Just make sure you don’t cover them all up you have to be able to see the tops of the chips in the glue

That is an interesting way of doing this. I may have to try that out. I would never have thought of that, thank you for sharing.

I have used glass in a candle mold with mix2mold and yes, I had to sand and sand. I would sand, using wet sanding and some coarse sand paper, I sanded for about 20 minutes, four times. The candle vessel turned out very nice but it does take a lot of sanding and I don't think we can get around that. You certainly need patience to sand these pieces. BTW, Mix 2 Mold is available at Hobby Lobby and I paid $18.99 for 5.5 pound tub. American dollars.

Glad to know that I am not the only one who has had to sand and sand. As I live in Canada, Hobby Lobby is out of my range... I can buy from Amazon.com which I did for the white ceramic resin.

Hey Lady, I've kept pieces of Mix2Mold, chips from overpours, drips and such. With the intention of using them as you have here. I've yet to do so because I'm not sure that the effort to reveal the chips is worth it. When sanding pieces in general, I wet sand to reduce dust. I then rinse the piece and allow it to dry completely before sealing.

hi - if sanding doesn't work for you, you could add the pieces to resin. Less work in the end lol. I think with the sanding I am going to have to get some rougher grit wet/dry sandpaper and see if that helps.
@mahoganyrootsstudio1582 ай бұрын
@@nmbbeingintentionallycreative I had to get a rougher grit because I was wearing myself out. I currently use 80 wet/dry. I also use a nail file for spot sanding. I've seen someone put those chips in resin. I can't remember who it was.

Hi I put my terrazo chips first and them pour. Then hardly have to sand. This allows me to save product, which is kind of expensive. Can send you photos

I have another video coming up with week that deals with this - I am beginning to understand a little more how best to do. Thanks for you suggestion.

My Hobby Lobby store is carrying mix2mold at about $10 cheaper than what Michael’s did
