I thought it was weird how one second the doc was emphasising the importance of being out and proud then next minute we have to hear about him boinking his obsese hag?? And during a time when his ex bf and other g@y men were dying ?? And for 3 years straight??? What a joke. 🙄

I agree, thought that was pretty weird too and straight up embarrassing lol. He seems like a lot of mediocre American writers, nobody really knows who he is so they probably wanted to sell on his sexuality to give the documentary a boost, basically queerbaiting. Smh.

Embarrassing is an understatement like just say your bi and go it's not hard. He was really harsh towards Edward Albee for not being open enough about his orientation yet this dude was literally hiding his bizarro relationship with a 🐷 😷 I don't blame Edward for not wanting to go public with him. 🤦

Why not a movie on Albee instead?... he was a more noteworthy talent and actually homosexual. McNally's plays aren't remotely interesting nor ground-breaking, especially to the homophile sensibility. Plus it shows a lack of knowledge to suggest he paved the way when there were plenty of prominent and successful homosexual artists prior: Tennessee Williams, Noel Coward, Jean Genet, Christopher Isherwood etc.

Right, and to be frank I find his plays lacking as well, they're pretty stiff and dated. He was awful to actors if they even suggested making any kind of change. Totally self-absorbed narc.

So he was a latent B but lied about being G and tried to hide it from people? What an a hole!!
