Funny thing about tile is that the only people who will ever notice this are people who have done tile work. I have only done a couple of tile jobs but ever since I did the first one, I notice every little flaw when I walk into a bathroom. Bottom line is that 99.9% of people will not notice any of these things.
@nathan874 жыл бұрын
Kind of. They may not be able to say exactly why, but they won't feel quite so good about using the bathroom. But also, if you care about every guest, you should also care about those who know something about tiling! It's the same in many other professions. For example, is a musician going to stop caring about mistakes because they know 95% of the audience won't notice? No, because they also want fellow musicians in the audience to enjoy the concert.

In reality they were probably union and bunch of green horns. Its slam and go regardless of where u stay when the tile guys are union. Very rarely will u see good tile work outside of a remodel. Cheap quick slap n go when u have 200+ units to tile. Try tiling a hotel. Youll figure out quick what u can get away with. Most the time the gc doesnt care and just wants it done 🤷

I had an 18-year-old kid work for me making $12 an hour as a helper and had never been in the tile business before He only lasted three weeks and said that wasn’t enough money for what he was doing. He got himself a job with a tile crew working at some resort for sea world or universal not sure which one but a month later he called me and told me that he was basically an expert grout man and was ready to install and wanted to come back and work for $150 a day I never returned his call and basically blocked his number, situations like this are all too common and I’m sure a rogue helper installed that bathroom at a third of the price that a professional would do it for

@@johnhewitt7361 Bruh you don't think you can pick up enough skills to do stuff on your own in TWO YEARS? Full time that's close to 4000 hours. Maybe your "helper" was a special case, but with two years in a job should be enough to go out on your own. Maybe you should help develop your workers instead of keeping them as "helpers" for two years.

When I lived in Vegas, we bid on some commercial properties. They were not concerned with a premium look to their bathrooms. They wanted you to get in and get out. And these were some high dollar properties. I witnessed the same thing in the timeshare in Hawaii. Just get the work done. Get in and get out. In both instances, they would be remodeling their rooms every 5 years or so. With this timeline in place, they weren't ccv concerned with quality like I've worked on in north Scottsdale, where the homeowners are paying multi millions for their homes.

Isaac, you have never done production work have you? They don't care. Disney is almost predatory in their corporate bidding process and deadlines. They will probably renovate in a few years anyway. Setters are given a daily quota. Keep up or get cut. Maybe the company will give a bonus for xtra units. Most setters will not forego several hundred dollars a week to customize their craftsmanship. Youd be surprised to know that commercial tile contractors are typically slap n go with average quality because its quantity over their quality. Cant have both in this game and if u had 200 hotel rooms to tile..well u would probably start throwing in some average work after doing the same shit for weeks and having to install over all the messed up rooms that your left with..on top of tearing other tile guys shit out that probably got fired or quit along the way. Long story short. Youll never get quality especially now adays in a hotel. Its bid super cheap and the GCs just want it done and will come back at the end to try and get tile guys to get things to pass. Thats the reality of commercial

I have been to Disney World in Florida many, many times and stayed in most every Disney resort from low end to high end and I have never seen this kind of horrible tile work. Was it a Disney sponsored hotel run by other hotels chains or an actual main Disney Resort? I have heard from many of my friends that Disney World is kept much better than Disneyland. The higher end resorts have granite slabs in the showers and the bathroom tub is more like the size of a small pool. (We were 1 of 2 rooms on the entire floor) . I would never stay in a room that had that gross of a bathroom.

Isaac, have you ever worked with ceramic bricks? Reason I ask is a few years ago our community built a new high school and the building has a lot of sharp edges. Every corner is as sharp as a table knife. By now I am sure some 9th grader has cracked their head open. Some walls are as rough as a garage and yet now the building is full of teen agers (didn't the architects remember when they were teens?). The old high school was built in 1959 and it had ceramic bricks that were rounded when they came to a corner and were rounded when it met the drywall/plaster about 6 feet high. I think this was a bull nose you refer to. You could bump ones head but not as badly as in the new one. Seems the architects back then knew more about teen agers than now.

Meh, one thing conspicuously missing from this channel is cost. Can people afford the level of quality that you expect out of every installation? Perhaps more importantly, should a family making 70k a year spend 50k on a new shower at the highest-quality level? This is the same issue I have with Matt Risinger's channel. Of course if there is no budget then you can build to the highest quality. Can you build to a reasonable quality at an affordable price level? That's more relevant for people.
