Michigan is a huge school with a large and deep alumni base and donors with deep pockets and the university has decided not to be Northwestern and college football are going to feel this. Michigan has always been a football school but it's also had an attitude of being above it all. No more. Michigan brings in unseemly amounts of money from its fan base--they host 100,000 people a week at their stadium--and it's all going to be geared toward winning and winning means recruiting and they're not going to be afraid to throw that money around anywhere, anytime.

It’s something that goes both ways for LSU. Yeah, it’s the #1 QB in the next class…but LSU has a loaded QB room anyways. Nussmeier may return next year, AJ Swann, 4 star Rickie Collins, and former 5 star (somehow demoted to 4 star when reclassed?) Colin Hurley. Underwood going to UM for $10.5-12M eats up a lot of money on their books, meanwhile for LSU, that money is now freed up. Kelly says they plan on spending quite aggressively this offseason and that extra money just added on to it. Michigan got its QB of the future, LSU isn’t thin at QB and it frees up NIL money. It’s fine for both programs.

NIL money doesn't come from universities, it comes from collectives and boosters so there are no "books". Second Michigan didn't do NIL because of Harbaugh. He didn't want anything to do with it. Now that UM has changed course, if you think that the University of Michigan is going to run out of money you are going to be mistaken. They have one of the largest alumni networks in the world. There are more billionaire and multi multi millionaire donors than you could count associated with that university. 10-15 million bucks to them would be like 50 bucks to you and I.

Michigan bought Brice, plain and simple. I think Kelly will dump the offensive coaching like he did the defensive coaching. Nobody talks about the injuries that hurt LSU on both sides of the ball. I think LSU needs to be patient and Kelly will bring them a NC in the next few years.
