Yup. Just a month ago the media was trying to convince us that there's six or seven juggernaut SEC teams that have a chance at a natty and we shouldn't take account their 1-2 losses.
@CryemoarСағат бұрын
You’ll never get that, ever since LSU wins & the UF dominance with Meyer, followed by Saban, we entered into “SEC fans” era. Most people watching, grew up during Sabans reign and ESPN has basically told them that the SEC’s top two teams deserves to be in the BCS and shouldn’t be held back by their conference championship. So now with the CFP era these SEC fans and their boosters literally believe that at least 3 or 4 of their teams deserve automatic bids despite their losses due them considering every team outside of their conference being overrated & “playing nobody”. Bama puts 50 on Mercer after losing the previous week and they were literally talking about how they deserved a bid over Ohio State. The logical consistency isn’t going to happen any time soon, It’s more than likely other teams that will be snubbed with 3-4 loss SEC teams getting in
@jaredbenton800552 минут бұрын
As a gator fan, I think the problem is people still think 2010s SEC. In the 2010s you could genuinely say the top 5-7 teams in the SEC would be number 1-3 in every other conference. There would typically be maybe 1 or two teams in a conference that were sec caliber (excluding Vandy most years). I don’t think that logic is a as strong nowadays, but I do think still applies a little. Nowadays the tops of the conferences are very well balanced, and since the sec has expanded it has gotten a lot more even. But most long time sec teams have more difficult games than other conferences. Florida played 6 teams that will finished ranked in the top twenty from just the SEC, and we didn’t play Alabama or Missouri. Most conferences don’t have that kind of depth. The big 10 is on par with the SEC, and the ACC and Big 12 fluctuate a lot.
@jaredbenton800542 минут бұрын
@@Cryemoar there’s a lot of people that are like that, especially in the media, and that is wrong. But there are years where the 3rd/4th best sec team is clearly better than the best big 10/big 12/acc/pac12 team. TCU getting in over bama is a example. That’s one pro of the new playoff.

Napier is an old school guy who started Mertz because he was the older player who ended the prior season on a high note...and "deserved" to be the starter in his final year. And yet...an 18 year old once in 20 years player is next man up. Hey...shiiittt happens. Florida will get a lot of attention next year. Billy and Co (the coaches) better get better in the off season...they have the players to do something big next season...
@patrickdezenzio49884 сағат бұрын
I was one that signed, sealed and delivered the pink slip on Napier and now I take it back. Many reasons really. One, I actually have seen a difference since the 1st bye week. That bye week worked on simplifying the defense because although we moved the ball well on offense the defense was giving up 50% more. They couldn't stop the wind. After that bye week, there was a measurable difference. We were 2-2 at the time, did beat Miss St on the road, but gave up 28 points, to go with the 41 and 33 we gave up to Miami and Texas A&M. After that bye week, we beat UCF and held them to 13 points. We held a vaunted offense on the road in Tennessee to 23 points in an OT loss. But we kept losing players and losing Mertz, then Lagway derailed the program's improvements. When you look at the IR list, there's not many teams in the FBS with that many starters out. The current team is a patchwork team of true freshmen and sophomores who are doing their best and these are the guys that Napier recruited, not Mullen's boys. In many ways, the underclassmen have performed better than their more experienced brethren. Secondly, who else is out there? You got Bama fans who want to get rid of DeBoer already. The guy has years of proven winning. Indiana? They look great against Sun Belt competition but then look ugly in their only tough game of the year. Indiana doesn't go bowling with our schedule. Lanning is it but unless you can woo him with a Billion $ contract, he's not leaving and I can't fault him. He's paid well, the fanbase is awesome, facilities are among the best in a very nice climate (you have access to more outdoor activities than anywhere else). Thirdly, if Napier was to be fired, Stricklin has no business getting a 3rd shot at it. Given the taint a month ago with his double down on his commitment to Napier the day before the bombshell broke about Todd Golden, to hire and fire 3 coaches for sexual harassment meant he has no ability to choose the right person. Really, 2025 was always going to be given to Napier because there just isn't anyone out there able to start all over and we would be starting over. Because of the cloud over Napier's head earlier in the season, the 2025 class started to go backwards and at one point reached 51st, which has never been done at Florida. But once Stricklin gave that vote of confidence and Napier started winning, the class is starting to rebound a bit, currently sitting at 26th, a 50% improvement. If we fired Napier, we would not only lose what was left of the 2025 class but we would have seen an exodus of the current team. The new coach would have to recruit a team as if the program was brand new. Most likely would have to build an entire team from the portal, which means major $$$. Which leads to the last reason, money. A $26M buyout, then a new coach worth yet another $8 or $9m a year with a possibility of having to buyout his contract, coupled with tens of millions of dollars in NIL money to build from the portal, meant it is best to just keep Napier and use the money in NIL and build on the foundation.

Need an LSU and Missouri loss this coming Saturday! If they both lose than there is a possibility that the gators may finish as a top half team instead of a bottom half team in conference play! This team is gonna be really scary next season if Napier and staff can figure out a way to bring Banks and Sapp back on the DLine and our other key pieces from this seasons team and build the defensive line and the rest of the team around the stars from this years team! Gotta top load the Highschool class with the top recruits we can get and then save the rest of the $$ to overload with the best of the best available for each position of need out of the transfer portal! This offseason isn’t a season to get 3⭐️ from Highschool, we need 5-6 elite elite Highschool players that can play day 1 and then load up with the transfer portal as Billy’s Highschool recruiting/development is much much better than FSUs so we can afford to just land elite Highschool talent this season and have a smaller class so that we can overload with proven players from the portal for a huge 2025 run to get us back in the fold for the future! With the Big10 you’ve got about 3-4 teams that are good but the rest of the conference is completely washed. There isn’t any 5-5 Big10 team that I think could beat a 5-5 SEC team😂

@@Scrapyard1v1erVery true I will say that outside of Miss St. the rest of the SEC would bomb most other teams with 5 to 7 wins

I didn't watch much of Ohio State Indiana, but the media roll showing Indiana players looked more student than athlete

@ I don’t think Indiana deserves to be in with that loss and I don’t think u will hear Big Ten fans clamoring for that either. I also think Penn State is vastly overrated and every team in the CFP is hoping they get Penn State.

Haha, ok. So now when ANY SEC playoff hopeful loses 2, 3, 4 games...it's categorically not allowed to be because they were overrated...its ALWAYS because their opponent (if that opponent is an SEC team as well of course) is now the new hotness. Even 6-5 Florida. Smh....ok then. Forget the losses to the Miamis and USCs and Notre Dames etc of the world, we don't count those. Losses like those are only held against other conferences. There's simply no amount of losses that a name-brand SEC team can accrue that can ever truly remove them from playoff contention

Ok sounds youre telling me 10-1 Indiana is better than ole miss? GTFO !!😂😂
@rteishe3 сағат бұрын
@tooldread1 not an Indiana fan, but yes, in all likelihood. Ole Miss is an average team. Average teams lose 3 or 4 games per year. Florida sucks. We have the data, lol.

*You “got” yourself Pate. I don’t care that you hate Ohio State. But, the fact that you’re doing it under name like “Josh Pate’s College Football Show” puts you in the same league as the left-wing, MSM for the past 8yrs.* What team DO you like, and why isn’t THAT team in your title. You acting like you’re some kind of neutral college football commentator, or anchor is horse-sh!t. Just be up front about what you’re doing.

I thought I watched a game where Texas beat Florida 49-17 and it wasn't really even that close, it was worse than the score indicates. And yet you never hear Pate mention that game. Why? Oh, I see. The worst thing that can happen to the SEC is for Texas to win the conference championship and God forbid they win the NC after all of the belittling from the SEC fans and pundits. I don't see the NC for them because Ewers has regressed since last year. Not a fan of the BIG but Oregon has to be the favored as of today.

Billy needs to find a play caller. He should be focusing on game management. He called a bozo timeout that gave ole miss another shot at tying the game up.
