For almost 30 minutes I sat there shocked while staring those whole shrimps in front of me. It looked disgusting and felt like it was watching me. I didn't know what to do. Finally, i managed to get rid of the shell after watching a video on YT. Surprisingly, it was super delicious. That's how I got to love seafood. Especially shrimp.

If only you knew just how many foods are only available locally! Even in the richest parts of the world, not all foods will be readily available! Many tropical fruits, for instance, are very difficult to transport on long distances and are not often imported. Even with your everyday household produce like apples, the ones that reach your plate are not necessarily the tastiest, but those that are easy to cultivate, preserve and transport on a massive scale. There are hundreds or sorts of maize and potatoes, but only two or three might reach the shelves were you live.

Not really, shrimp come from the ocean which is a VERY different environment and style than the land and even though it may look like an insect you cannot compare them at all
@Case16710
@Case16710 4 жыл бұрын
lucas montez of course you can compare them. Crustaceans and insects all have exoskeletons, 3 part bodies (head, thorax, abdomen), hemocyanin-based blood, compound eyes, segmented legs, and many other similarities. In fact crustaceans and insects are pretty closely related and are all considered Pancrustaceans. The truth is, a cockroach is more closely related to a shrimp than to a spider, scorpion, or centipede. The fact that one lives on land and the other in water is a distinction without a difference. There are insects that live in water and crustaceans that live on land too. Of course, some people eat grasshoppers and roaches, but many others would not. Personally, I have no problem eating raw oysters, which to others may seem even more disgusting than a grasshopper. Like I said, it is pretty arbitrary what animals we choose to eat.

@@Mr.Obongo 2:54 this dude got it right and was still convinced by the guys behind the camera that he was eating fish xD Crustaceans are basically water-insects and shrimps are basically crabs that have a softer shell and haven't tucked their tail under their belly ;)

Huma seems so intelligent and curious. I love how she pulled back her burka with an air of "let's get to business" and carefully observed every aspect of the new food. I'm glad she enjoyed it. Do people from her tribe ever fry breaded food?

I have to wonder what it would be like for them to take a visit to a Japanese fish market if shrimp puzzles them. It'd probably be like walking through a space alien's supermarket.

Fact: Shrimp is not a fish, more related to insect like Cockroach, weird but true, but it's better not to tell them as it will make it look more gross
