I have 4 special needs Yorkies. We are on an aged pension but we find what they need. One of ours was diagnosed with a liver shunt and he cost thousands to find out they couldn’t help him, he was a baby and we had driven through 3 States to see a specialist surgeon. We were told he couldn’t be helped. He was bleeding and almost lifeless when I saw my old Vets building before we moved and asked my husband to stop. It took the Vet 2 hours and blood tests to find out it wasn’t a liver shunt. He was allergic to grains and he had PICA. The next day he was bouncing around like he had never had a problem. Now he is 6 years old with a weight problem. His favourite snack is a kitchen sponge so we threw them all out but he had a hidden supply. We can handle his weight problem.

I live in the USA and the laws vary state by state but dogs are horribly undervalued here. There is no justice for them when abused or neglected. I think the way we treat animals reflects on our humanity. Humans are selfish and cruel at times. I see a real need for stricter punishments for crimes against nature.

Shihtzus are fantastic dogs I have 2at this time. I’ve had six in my life. But please before getting a shihtzu be aware that their hair needs to be clipped shortish at least every 8 weeks. No excuses if you can’t commit to at least that maybe get a different dog that you CAN care for 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

I know two people who's living on my neighborhood who treats their poodles like that too. One house has 4 poodles, never been walked, but at least i seen them roam freely inside the house. Another house has 6 poodles and 3 pekingeses, also almost never walked (i only seen one of the pekingese had walked) and all of them living on that kind of cage (sometimes they put them with their cages in front of their house to clean). I know because i walked my Beagle twice a day, sometimes we're passing by their house and all of them barking non stop everytime they seen us. Sadly, the rule in my Country only mentioned such as abandoned, abused and emanciated, they don't realized that put them on that tiny cage and never let them walked outside the house is also including both neglect and abuse.

I have lived on the streets before n I always had a dog and I always made sure that he/she was fed and taken care of.🥺 I understand that they were getting ready to get evicted; but, I've never understood how someone who has a roof over their heads, and food, etc' can have an animal, dog or otherwise and then not take care of it 😐🥺😐

I had a Samoyed pup with a liver shunt. They’d hydrate her and she’d be perky for about 12 hrs and she’d relapse. At 6 weeks she was only 12 lbs so we had to say goodbye to the sweetest little baby girl. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the funds for the surgery. I can’t remember how much it was but the vet said it would be thousands and the surgery wasn’t very effective.

There is no reason that any person who knowingly and intentionally harms and kills an animal, should just get a fine. No one forces you to own a pet. And no one forces you to be around animals if you dislike them. They deserve jail, prison, a criminal record made public, and never be around own any animals again. These laws need changing to protect innocent animals who can't advocate for and protect themselves.

I don't understand why, if there's charities that help homeless people provide vet care to their pets, surely they could help out people in financial situations where they cannot provide care if they can prove their financial situation. Imagine having a family to provide for, being evicted and your beloved senior dogs are being taken away because they have non life threatening issues. I can't help but wonder if the owner was actually trying to treat them?
