This sweet boy needs lots of cuddles and kisses after his stressful day! I feel so bad when dogs are so scared but you're so gentle with them and your soothing voice definitely makes a difference. ❤ After his bath, he seems calmer. He's becoming more trusting and probably feels a hundred times better with all that hair and painful matting gone.

Darling, About dog bad and crusty tear stains Letting the tear stain soak for a while is perfect! Use a soft face cloth to gently loosen crusty tear stains before you use the comb. Easier on both you and the dog if instead of combing out from the inside corner of the tear stain near the eye's tear duct, - you start from the end of the tear stain nearest the nose and cheek (far from the tear duct) - a 1/4 inch max and 1/8 inch at a time work your way up towards the tear duct. - comb out the hair you've already untangled and cleaned by combing the hair towards the cheek to the end with almost each stroke.

I think it's wonderful that you do this for free. I taught myself off of KZbin and I do it for friends or family if they need it done. But I absolutely do not agree with how hard you're brushing that little dog with that metal brush. It's unnecessary. I can't imagine someone brushing my hair that fast and that hard. The dogs skin has to be tender not being groomed for a long period of time. If any groomer does that I believe it is too rough. That's why I taught myself to do mine. I watched a groomer do just what she is doing. Way, way too rough. I don't care what anyone says. I had a groomer tell me one time it's also unnecessary to pull so many hairs out of its ears at one time That's ridiculous too, oh my gosh watching it just gives me chills. Again it's a good thing you're doing.

One thing about Yorkies is after a bath they are more relaxed and want to nap. It is a good time to do anything they wouldn't normally let you do at that time. We've have Yorkies and they get groomed every 3 months.

Have you thought about starting a network of volunteer groomers who would donate their services a few days a month and make it nation wide? Around here there's even drive thru clinics for shots and basic care. Other vet services are offered at a discount, but nothing to help with grooming. Your on your own. It can be very expensive if you're older and on a very fixed income. I have a schnauzer who mats if you' look at him cross-eyed. I brush and clip and bathe as much as I am able too but some things I don't know how to do. When I got him my life was really different. I got really sick almost 2 yrs ago and it is hard for me to keep up. I lost my partner almost 5yrs ago and live on a low fixed income. 😊

They are rough with them and that is one of the reasons i stopped taken mine to be groomed, that and the cord around their necks, a friend of mine lost her yorkie due to collapsed trachea, an horrible thing to see, i take my time, brush them every day, 10 minutes and they are done, a bath every 10 days and they are not like a little mouse all naked, not long, long hair but not shaved like this poor one, part of being a yorkie is their beautiful hair, I give them treats, kisses and time to rest, groomers have no time and they tend to be fast and sometimes rough...not good, poor little pup.
