Rattle snakes can only strike about half their body length. For example, a 6’ snake can strike about 3’. No rattle snake is much longer than 6’. Therefore, as long as you stay at least 5’ away, you’re safe. Also, they’re not pursuit predators. Just leave them alone, and they’ll leave you alone.:)

Emiliano Zapata, I had that experience! Once when my grandma and I were out for a walk, we saw a snake trail across the dirt road. We decided to determine which way it was going, and when we got too close, it gave it big old rattle! I took off then remembered Grandma. I went back for her, but there was no need. The snake wasn’t interested in us. It just didn’t want to be bothered.:)

I live in an area with coyotes, so I got a collie to scare them away from my house. But 1 time, a fox came. And when she scared it, instead of running away, it surrendered to her by smiling and doing back flips. :)
