Feel like I lost a friend as Terry Callier passed away Saturday, Oct. 27th.. He was only 67. Terry was one of the real unsung heroes of the Soul/Jazz music world. Often in the background as writer for other artists, it is important to fully appreciate the musical legacy of his own he left us. Chicago based, he found his way through the ghetto to European stardom, but it took 20 years for that to happen. This is one of Pookie's favorites since '72, and was also done by the Dells. Terry left his music behind in the late '70's to raise his daughter....every time I hear this song, I think of the sacrifice of a career Terry willingly made to give that little girl a better life than he had. A real Superstar in Music, and in Life. RIP Friend.

If you are not moved by this man's soulful and heartful music there is something seriously wrong with you. A wonderful singer who did not get the recognition he deserved.

I've been in love with this man's music ever since I was in college back in the 1970's. It is so unfortunate that folks weren't aware of his artistry until much later.

In September of "72" I arrived at my dorm at American University in DC and staff was handing out albums. Terry Collier (sp ) Ordinary Joe was one of the ones I got. Shared it with roommates, family and in 2013 regifted the CD to all my siblings. Timeless. Thank you Terry

I absolutely love this song! It has become some kinda personal anthem to me. Such direct meaning so applicable to one's reflection and standard to live by. In the end, through all the accomplishments and acquisitions, traveling here and there, many of us who still have a decent human longing in our hearts, rather be with someone we think does that special love thing for us.

An AWESOME musician, definitely never received his props for his tremendous contribution to blues, soul, and jazz. Perhaps at some point, his work will be recognized. Really recognized.

Terry was a favorite of those gen x-er trip hop and house artists of the 1990s, mostly in Europe. They sampled the shit out of his music. Terry had a modicum of success back in the early 1970s, but it was short lived. Personal / financial / domestic issues forced Terry to leave the music business in the late 1970s. And It wasn't until the late 1980s that his music was re-discovered by a new and younger generation of music listeners. Rest in Peace, Terry.

Wow I found this song so late in life in 2009 while listening to a local R & B show. It's me and my girls song and breaks me up inside. I even learned it on piano. Man I'm sorry. RIP Terry.

The First Time I became aware of him was many years ago. his Sound and words were just so Up Lifting and beautiful. He sang with great emotion. I often laugh at some current singers now. They are not that good. Money drives them not Content. Terry Had That I write poetry and Stories. I learned allot from Listening to Him. Peace My Brother.

Father Callier IS a KING among pawns. Had the HONOUR of being at his final, intimate performance here in London. Fortunately i was taken there by someone who knew him well so we had a chance to chat. Truly the man was special. Ive met some cats in my day but NONE compare to Terry. MAXIMUM love and respect for lighting the way and being by 'my side' through my darkest minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years king. You helped show me the 'way'.

I hate to admit that I was once unaware of this great music, but the very first time I heard this tune, I loved it, and played it over and over. I have shared this song with many people, and enjoy their responses. He was gifted, and in touch with harmonies, as his music supports. My condolences to his friends and family, and he will be remembered by his gift of music.

Didn't know until now that I'd lost my home boy. My heart is filled with sorrow. May the magic of his poetry and music, as well as the beautiful spirit he was dwell among us for all time.
