I never knew about this gentleman before today. This is the 5 video about this man. I am so impressed and so thrilled that he came out and talked his truth. My father beat up my mother every weekend until I was 7. My brother a year older stood up to my father one day and told our father that he would kill him if he hit his mother one more time. He stood over mom where she had fallen and he held his fist up ready to fight dad. My father never hit our mom again. I REMEMBER the terror every Friday night and Saturday nights waiting for him to come home. My younger brother and I use to hide under our parents bed crying. When the violence would start we would cry for mommy and wish our father dead. I am white. This problem is every where. I never told anyone until I was much older. I love this gentleman for speaking out with the truth.

My earliest memory, too, is my fathet beating my mom, however I think it was just that one time. My dad had an alcohol and drug issue, eventually went to prison for a short time. Then he came back a better man. Today I love him and he always since the day he came back has always tried to be the best dad he can for me and he would do anything to help me. Of course my mom wouldn't take him back and its best that way, but people CAN get better and I know that also that this sort of upbringing does a lot of damage which I still am trying to figure out. I always thought I would never want to be like my dad or be like my mom who I thought was so weak but now I see how strong she is for having taken care of us and gone through everything she went through which nobody could do perfectly.. I have a lot of personal battles and I want to become a better person.. people don't understand that as a kid you don't know better.. I didnt understand what happened was wrong because nobody told me it was wrong.. I never got to see the flip side and I guess I don't know how to maintain a healthy relationship.. but its just that.. I want to learn to be a better person. Terry gives me hope on that. My dad gives me hope on that and my mom gives me hope on that.

"Toxic masculinity" refers to only the bad parts of male behaviour - not the kindness, loving, caring, bravery, sense of adventure, toughness, dedication, perseverance etc. Toxic masculinity refers to what Terry Crews talked about - beating the crap out of people. Sexually assaulting them because you have a position of power. Making excuses for the violence and assaults of other men. So if a 6 foot 2, 250 pound former football pro can be a victim of sexual assault by a person in a powerful industry position, and you believe that it happened to him, and he wasn't trying to get rich or famous, ask yourself why you're so quick to question the motives of other assault survivors (male or female but especially female) when they try and tell their stories, when police stats for false rape allegations in the USA, UK and Australia all range between 2% and 6%.

Terry is the perfect example for young men. He's standing in front of a big crowd, cameras on him, lighting on him and he owns up to what he's feeling. This guy ain't afraid of crying, or showing his weak sides. No he even owns this stuff. Setting the example. We need! more men like Terry. More men who talk about the struggles they are facing, more men that cry and speak up about what's right and wrong. More men with big hearts and courage like no other. Because that sets a perfect example for all the young men out there. The perfect example that you don't have to be buff as hell, you don't have to be always strong. You should embrace your emotions, talk about all the hardships and struggles because that's life. This is a good case of masculinity and I hope we can all head into a similar direction in the future and embrace all of it.

Terry , the question is WHAT TYPE OF SYSTEM CREATES MEN LIKE YOUR FATHER --- you became your father but you were consciene of your behavior and you could recognize it in yourself --- most people do not do this , thus they repeat what they have been indoctrinated into. I grew up in a family where my parents where verbally abusive -- mind you I have a razor for a tongue and I see how it hurts people - I am good at hurting people with my tongue because I was taught how to do this- when I was verbally abused. Hurt people, hurt people - period. I was like you and I am conscience to my sharp tongue and I never never never never ever use it on my children. I do not want them repeatin what was done to me. Back to the system --- this is not WHITE OR BLACK THING -- this is a POWER THING. Those that have power use is to exploit those that don't --- WAKE UP!! It is man on woman, black on white, white on white, girl on girl --- it is power on those that don't have power.
