Dear Terry, I watched another video where the comments were turned off so I came here to comment on something you said about having a hard time listening to your younger voice. May I just say that I have grown up with your voice from the beginning and I treasure it in all its incarnations. Your voice to me is the embodiment of intelligence and insight and I am grateful for what you have offered over the years.

To my English mind, American journalism is Terry Gross and Alistair Cooke

I have great respect for Terry Gross - one of the best interviewers ever. She is fair minded, asks open ended questions that get people to open up and talk, and I always learn things from her interviews.

Both she and Stephanie Miller cite growing up in upstate NY with an ear on CBC from Toronto as an influence on their interviewing style.

Criticism... I always love listening to Terry Gross. And... I was disappointed by this video, not because of it's content per se, but because the promise made by the title was not at all met by the content.

Terry Gross is the absolute best interviewer. She does her homework and it seems like some of her guests are very selective about who they are willing to sit down with. I proudly wear a t-shirt with her face on it. I can't imagine any Communication major not studying her style and technique.

A favorite interview...Richard Carpenter, Karen's brother. Terry asked, "Did she know how good she was?" Big pause. Spoke volumes.

When I was younger and I first became aware of Terry Gross, I remember thinking I want to be like that person. A woman who is grounded, intelligent, kind and is making a difference in the world.

The only good interviewing skill she has is she lets people answer the questions which seems to be dying.
