The NEW Tesla FSD 12.5 is FIRE! See me do a handsfree 40 minute commute

Terry White tests the latest update to Tesla's Full Self-Driving software version 12.5 (2024.20.10). He does a door-to-door commute from his home in Atlanta to his office building in Midtown Atlanta. The Telsa not only navigates surface streets, but also the freeway, traffic, lane changes, left and right turns, and does so without having to disengage once! Don't worry, Terry sped up the boring parts so you don't have to watch the full 40 minutes.It's pretty amazing how far Tesla's Full Self-Driving has come.
The test vehicle was a 2023 Tesla Model S.

What are you talking about? FSD requires 100 percent human supervision at all times, it cannot be trusted to drive the car safely alone. And remember that less than 1 percent of cars in America are Teslas. FSD means nothing, when you look at the *big* *picture* .

@@DerekDavis213he probably talking about the future which we all get there - I do predict in a decade or two - to drive will be illegal or even cars will be manufactured without a wheel, once the data will show that less people killed = saving life’s - it will be a murder to not force it(that’s the exact words Elon used btw), and will be easy to do since Tesla designed her business model to license this technology to other brands..

Terry you have just about convinced me to leap to a Tesla. Currently my vehicle is the VW ID.4 EV. My Tesla would be the model Y long range. This is based on the range and the size of the Tesla charging network. The one drawback is the lack of built in Sirius XM. Any Suggestions?

@@TerryLeeWhite Thanks - I was at the dealer yesterday for a test drive and more info on the car and the model Y doesn't have one. I recently went on a very long road trip from Seattle to Sedona AZ. The satellite radio was very nice to have. Lot's of areas where one is way out of streaming range. BTW - I really like your Adobe videos! How, you manage to keep the Photoshop interface manageable is amazing!

​@@richball3260dude, if you can wait 1 year, you should do it because the model y refresh is currently being tested. The only reason I say that is because the current model comes with hardware 4 which is what is needed for the level of self driving your seeing but it's not flawless and Hardware 5 will be launched with that vehicle next year and have 10x or 1000% more computing power so it will be able to handle much larger and more advanced AI models to make a truly hands free even in the parking lot. There's slightly older teslas from 22 that are also getting this update but don't perform as well because they have hardware 3 so I don't want you to end up with a car which if you end up keeping for 5 years puts you in a position where people are driving completely autonomous vehicles and your stuck with good enough

​@@richball3260I should also tell you that hardware 5 has tech to keep the camera working optimally in snow and rain while hardware 4 doesn't so you would end up in a state need you when even though it's good enough, the weather would limit your usage

This is impressive technology. It appears to extensively utilize the video cameras. Are you aware of a coating to add the the lenses of these camera to shed rain and snow?

It’s 100% camera based. It does ok in the rain. However, it will not function if the cameras are covered or if visibility is really low. I don’t know of any special coating.

How you don’t get sleepy or become a sleep during this drive? Also isn’t it just boring to sit in the car and do nothing? At the beginning it is cool however after awhile it becomes the the normal eay

It’s an option. You can take over and drive wherever you want or get bored. It takes the fatigue out of driving.

I have never drove a Tesla. I don’t understand how this wheel works. It is taking 360 degree turned so how do you do it manually

@@ezrakoper it took a little to get used to but it’s an easy one hand gesture. Also all Teslas come with a standard wheel. The yoke is an option.

At 4:38 you had to intervene, and press the turn signal with your hand. So this trip is NOT a 40 minute handsfree commute.

@@DerekDavis213 you didn’t listen to what I considered an intervention. Pressing the turn signal was a choice, not a necessity. Not did I disengage FSD.

@@TerryLeeWhite You might not consider physically pressing a button to be an intervention, but everyone else does! It clearly means that FSD cannot drive the car properly without your input. FSD v12 was released *180* *days* *ago* , and even today it makes frequent mistakes. It is just a buggy Level 2 assistant, and nothing more. I feel sorry for people that paid 15k or 12k for the beta FSD software.

@@DerekDavis213 had I not changed lanes it would have either made the left or of it could (meaning the other drivers would allow it) it would have made the lane change. No different than a human driver not knowing that it changes to a left only lane. I chose not to wait or be rerouted. That was my choice. Had I not done it I would have still arrived at the same location. So with that said, call it a 35 minute no intervention drive if that makes you feel better. Either way it was insanely good. I never claimed it doesn’t make mistakes or that it’s worth a certain dollar amount. That’s your personal bias coming through.
