You, Sir, are a legend. I bought a new charging port on eBay for £12.95; it came the next day; I fitted it using your video which was clear and informative. Thanks for mentioning the camera, too - I needed that bit of advice! And it's half term. Thanks to you, I'm the best mum in the known universe. Phew.

Another satisfied customer here - thanks for this video! This represents the best part of youtube - teaching people new skills! I was really scared to prise off the battery, having to use first a dinner knife (because there was only a little gap to get it in) and then a spatula knife, but after I put it all back together it seems to be working. :) Thanks again!

Thanks very much for this. Just done the job in 20 minutes - total success. Especially good as you can't easily port your game profiles and levels to a new hudl, so my wife would have lost 200-odd levels of Candy Crush if it hadn't been for your video. Life saver!

Hi Craig, Thanks very much for this video. I have a hudl1 that is used by 9yr old and he snapped the charging port. I now have a working hudl1 thanks to you. I bought my port from a company called TechnologyVS from ebay for £3.99 Only issue I had (apart from opening lid) was that I accidentally closed the little black clips after I'd disconnected the broken one, so couldn't get the new one in and thought I'd bought a duff. All good now - thanks a million.

Brilliant, thanks so much Craig. Very helpful, it was tricky to get the back off but a Stanley knife blade was perfect in the end. A loose screw fell out of mine when I opened it up but I soon spotted where it was from as each screw hole has a gold area around it and one was empty. Don't think it was too critical though. I was quite nervous about breaking something inside as it felt very fragile, I just did everything in slow motion, and hey presto - the Hudl is now charging away! Only took 5mins once I'd got the back off - fab! The ports are really delicate and I can see myself doing this again in the near future! I'm going to put a sticker on the port and charging pin so my son can see which way round it should go in!

Very helpful Craig. Thank you. I managed to successfully repair my son's Hudl with your guidance. One suggestion I would add. I started removing the back at the top left corner by the headphone port as that was where the biggest gap was but I managed to nick the edge of the board in doing so. No real harm done but, in hindsight, it would have been better to pry away one of the bottom edge corners first as there is more space between the frame and the innards.

Craig Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou so much, this was so helpful you saved me a new tablet (which I've done twice now)...I'm not a techybod but I followed all your instructions to the tee and YEY charger is on and charging as we speak...The only thing that threw me initially was one of the cameras came out but you explained at the end that may happen and it slotted into place with no issues ... The battery was well glued down for me and I used a mix of a tiny screwdriver and a tiny pair of scissors...once I prised it up a bit i popped the scissors underneath so I could prize everywhere and it was super glued in (I couldnt find a paintscraper)...Thankyou again for taking the time out to post this I reckon you will save a lot of people a lot of money .. hugz

This helped me so much, the hard part for me was removing the battery as it was so stuck down and I was afraid of bending the battery. I didn't have a painscraper or anything thin enough to get the back off so I had to use a satnav suction pad to remove the case which was much easier. Thank you :)
@Wes90099 жыл бұрын
Thanks just completed the charging port replacement. I struggled to get the back off but eventually using a Stanley blade in a paint scraper handle placed in the seem joint to hold the hudl flat on the table and a satnav screen suction mount one corner the back come off easily first gentle pull with no damage. The other problem I encountered was the removal of the ribbon cable. Being naturally stupid I assumed that "up" in lifting the black tab was up with the hudl flat on the table but up really means toward the top of the hudl as it is flat on the table. Hope this help other diy persons who may be as stupid as me. Bon courage!

Brilliant did it exactly as said thanks for that. My part was 9.99 from amazon with free delivery but looks the part, a few reports on amazon said they had struggled with e-bay ones but these where OK. Have previously had this repaired for 25 quid but that port lasted about 2 weeks before it fell off the PCB so suspect they soldered a new port on (also battery was still glued in as was ribbon so they had never done this procedure) which is never going to be as strong.

if there are no holes for the screws on the circuit board then look around the main frame.. if not it may just be a mistake by the company.. it happens sometimes..

A very easy to follow video. Thank you very much. As you've had it open twice now I don't suppose you paid any attention to the battery did you? Craig - thanks for taking the time to make and post the video. I see on Ebay you can just buy the socket itself as opposed to the whole board. In your opinion is it worth just trying to change that element or does the whole board need changing?

Thanks for the video. I tried with the stanley knife blade but didn't trust myself so stopped before I ended up in A+E lol. I got the back in the end by using an old windscreen mount satnav cradle. Attached the sucker on the back in one corner and then pulled hard. The back popped right off! Just thought I'd share this in case this is of use to anyone else.

Camelectric Ltd I don’t think you can edit the video but I might be wrong. You could delete and upload another one I guess but I wouldn’t personally bother if it were me.
