Is it difficult to remove the aftermarket wheel covers? Some have said in forums that the clips are on really tight and they have had to use pry tools for bike tires to help with pulling them off.

No, not at all. The ones from EV Base are easy to install and remove as well. You just have to give it a good pull, and they’ll start coming off. I just wish it would’ve protected the rim a little better. We changed the original ones with the after market ones in less than 5 mins

That damage isn't all that bad. Sand it smooth and get some touch up paint. After that, avoid all curbs.

We haven’t thought of sanding it, will have to look into that. We’ve seen where people have used touch up paint. I appreciate that tip.

What's wrong with you tesla folks. Why would you accept thses kind of stupid gimmics.

@8bajwa8 the rim cover actually covers the outside part of the rim, since Tesla’s are notorious for the rim protruding further out then most cars. It gives some protection, it’s better than nothing

Wheel covers are susually not to protect the rim from curb rash, but rather for aestetic reasons. If you want to protect your rim you have to buy something that is especially made for protecting the rim. You can see the cover you bought did not completely cover the edges of the rim. The easiest way to not get curb rash is to buy a smaller size rim to begin with. Allso tyres wider than the rim will help. Or tires with a "Lip" for rim protection. (Or to not hit curbs obv)

Teslas are known for having rims that stick out further than many traditional car wheels, which makes them particularly prone to curb rash. Compared to other vehicles right out of the car lot. Most if not all these 3rd party companies like EV Base do advertise as providing some level of protection for the outer portion of the rim. While they don’t cover the entire edge, they can help reduce damage to the visible outer surface, especially during minor scuffs. Some of the videos we watch when the hit a curb it actually protected it 100%. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case for us. Yes obviously not hit the curb would also help
