You need to buy the bar that goes from the steering to the saddle for the bike. Thule makes one and Yakima makes one as well. The will allow your wheels on the bike to look better on. In addition the bike rack needs to be pushed in all the way not sticking out where the pin hole gets used. This will create too much movement as well as scrapes and damage to your hitch area. It’s meant to be pushed in all the way and the pin is used in case of emergency when you did not tighten it enough, the pin stops the rack from fully being removed.

Take the front tire off the bikes and you won’t have clearance issues going into driveways and such. That cable is not going to stop a bike thief. The design of the carrier is really impressive, and with referral credits you could get it for less than one referral. I just don’t see myself buying it for $540!

Hey Myk! Do the sensors go off when the bike rack is in its retracted position? And does Tow Mode affect any transmission settings that would impact range?

No, not when it's in the folded position. I would assume that it affects range, any change in the aerodynamics can do that.

I purchased my Model Y Performance with the factory tow package. I am using the Thule rack and my bikes sit on the trays without damaging the carbon frames. It is not uncommon to have $12,000 in bicycles on the rack.

It reduces range unfortunately. Anything that affects the aerodynamics of the car will reduce the range.

I had a Yakima previously and it scratched the frame up. I switched to the Thule T2 which secures the tires. I did not want to damage the carbon frames.
