If I was shopping for one of these I would compare it to the current price of a new plaid so about 84000. 130k was just because they were new and the quickest production car in the world. Tesla markup instead of dealer markup! 😂

The level of radiation from an electric car's battery is comparable to or even lower than that from many other household appliances like microwaves or cell phones, and numerous studies have indicated that this poses no significant health risk to drivers or passengers.

the comparison of $130k to $60k without mentioning the price cuts is dishonest. the depreciation curve of teslas and used ev's was massively impacted by price cuts + the point of sale credit last year. its not because "they are worse in every way" and no one wants to buy them - that reasoning doesn't match the thousands of dealers buying up hertz's inventory of used EV's. if they were really that bad, they wouldn't be buying them for resale.

I'm sick of hearing about EV depreciation when its obviously got a lot to do with a big drop in new prices. So a car that used to cost 130k is now 60k (or whatever used) has depreciated more than 50%, is not going to have the same depreciation for a new buyer whos paying 90. A price drop of 33% (90k to 60k) for 3 years and 30000 miles sounds normal to me.

Don’t buy it new it can be a budget car where most of the cost is up front under the right circumstances. I got a 3 used for 25,000 less than new, I save 300 a month in gas. Car pays for itself hands down IF you’re in a high fuel price area AND hold it 10+ years. No loan pay cash. Oddly enough Toyota Corolla from 2007 (amazing car) is the only car similar in savings but I spent 350 a month gas even with her. Older reliable cheap under $10,000 barely exist or need a lot of work done. Battery replacement free on my Tesla for 7 more years and I’ll probably just replace the battery-cheaper as time goes along and it’s like a new car.

The problem - yes, new teslas depreciate way faster than ICE cars, but the used EVs continue that rapid depreciation curve faster than used ice cars too. They are worse in every way and resale is the way the market shows that.

@@JA-zh5xi - All jokes a side. I think the problem with EV depreciation is that the Platforms vehicles don't really change that much from year to year. For example if you have a 2018 Tesla you would just keep it, because there is little to no difference in a new one, especially the interior and features. Its basically the same car, year after year...
@justinkase1360

@@TimeisReel I disagree. I think Tesla buyers all want the newest thing and the technology does change much more significantly when compared to other cars. Different motors, battery types, driving hardware and software, suspension. That means a new car is soon outdated and a used car is outdated from the beginning. The result is plummeting values. Oh, let's not forget worries about battery replacement that make old teslas a serious gamble. I want a tesla....but it just doesn't pay to be an early adopter, and it IS still early.

Its because Tesla did a few price adjustments. In '21 it was the the fastest mass market sedan ever made. you had to pay a premium to get it. Its how markets work. now you can get a new one with better features for 89k. so after 3years in the ~60k is pretty normal.

@@videogazer801 actually that’s not true. Except for one very important fact. it literally operates like a diesel vehicle in cold weather. If your gas tank ain’t full on a diesel., and it’s closer to quarter tank an extremely cold weather conditions she’s not gonna start because the diesel has turned to Jell-O. Now as far as the electric car goes, it’s the same thing. If she’s not 60% or better charged.. you’re gonna have problems with distance and range. I know this because coming back from a trip in my model S the car was warning me. That my battery was under 10% and the battery was getting way too cold to operate. Now second issue. In a way it has nothing to do with the car. Lot of consumers just charge their car enough to go where they’re going and come back. They keep it at the lowest possible charge. Don’t know why. But I know for a fact, she will have problems if the charge is really low on the car. Which we got to see in Chicago all over the news. Third thing. When they get way too cold, they don’t charge very quickly at all. So the rule like a diesel keep it fully charged as possible and you won’t have these problems. Just like a diesel keep it as full as possible and you won’t have problems.
