I was the tow driver on that scene. I had to recover the car. I been doing this for 7 years and that was the most gruesome crash that I have ever seen in my towing career. May she rest in peace and may her loved ones find peace. Tesla really needs to do something about the front because of the fact that it has no engine and a very weak front end frame that’s what caused the fatality most likely. If it would’ve been a car with an engine on front she probably would’ve survived.

Engines are heavier are PROVEN to be MUCH more dangerous in a crash than one in a EV. It’s just that the guard rail wasn’t set up correctly and it impaled her car. May she rest in peace.

The Tesla has been recognized as one of the best crash safety ratings and one of the best of all time. I have little doubt that the crash barrier was improperly installed. There is a man that goes around the country trying to bring awareness after his child to an improperly installed barrier.

I want to update my reply because from you can see the barriers weren't properly installed. Those vertical blocks should be broken instead of the bolts holding them to the blocking. They are wooden on purpose - to absorb the damage, break off and let the car slide down the metal guardrail. Even when hit head on, they are set up to reflect the car to one side or the other and slide it down the barrier. You can see in the video the barriers snapper, the blocking is still standing and the car went down the hill. This is very unfortunate and too common.

She was my daughters math teacher at Poly High School a couple years ago. Very nice and beautiful lady. All the students love her. I agree some of this footage is too gruesome and graphic and unnecessary to see. Praying for her family and loved ones. 🙏🏻❤😢

Same here. My son went to her math class this morning only to hear the horrific news. Then we have this totally unnecessary video that ofc the kids are seeing, complete with moronic comments. I just hope the kids & everyone can remember her as she lived, and not think about this video when they remember her. Very kind lady, thoughtful & and an excellent teacher. They struck the guard rail in such a right spot that it pierced inside the car. Hopefully that guard rail was installed correctly. There’s a KZbin channel that shows often times those guard rails are missing bolts or installed incorrectly by subcontractors

As a Tesla driver who uses their autopilot on the freeway 98% of the time, I have to say I'm shocked at how many other Tesla drivers I pass by and it doesn't appear as though they're using their autopilot at all especially women they don't seem to trust the system they're too scared to turn it on. I'd be willing to bet she may have fell asleep while manually driving.

I always proceed cautiously around Teslas. I was almost killed by an old lady who didn't seem to understand how to stop her Tesla. The acceleration is also dangerous for aging drivers. I have seen Tealas move way too fast in parking lots .

Overweight EVs aren't compatible with the current guardrails (internet search EV and guardrails). Also, had there been an engine instead of empty space in the frunk it would have probably prevented the rail from slicing through and impaling the driver.

@@dodgersfan4126 -not disrespecting the fine lady, the auto drives on a few Tesla’s have over ridden the driver’s control and accelerated the speed, not saying that what happened here. It does seem from the comments the driver was a very responsible person, which is why I would question why the speed would possibly be rapid, she wouldn’t be the type from what people like yourself are saying to speed- therefore, I am suspicious why so much damage was delivered to the vehicle, making one wonder if a software issue possibly took control and made this accident no fault of the driver whatsoever. Tesla has the complete data and can quickly determine if this tragedy was no fault of the driver. I hope they release the truth soon.

It's an important distinction because Tesla doesn't have an engine in front like Ford, Kia, etc and it's a material difference to the story (assuming the information on about the guardrail is accurate)
