Interesting to see the changes from 12.3.1 to 12.4.1 on Wacker Street and Downtown. This is a very difficult area for driving. If FSDs masters this it can handle a lot of difficult driving situations everywhere, on the other hand lower Wacker Drive is a edge case, which you scarly find anywhere. I am excited about FSD becoming fully functional, but there is still a long way to go before the driver no longer needs to sit in the driver's seat. The idea of safely sitting in the back seat area while not paying attention to the outside is a dream that will someday come true makes me want to speed up the development process so we can enjoy it right away. Thank you for doing these. 8-10 hours is a lot so if you have a clear layout that works for the entire video there is little additional benefit to a lot of rearrangements if that can save you a lot of time. The high omni video is nice and clear. It might be slightly more informative if the corners of the car could be seen to see how close it gets but it's a minor thing. In the right corner with video of the screen you don't need the view out as well so maybe cropping that down will show the car corner. If you are self conscious about a camera high on a stick, I'm guessing that just above the windshield tesla cameras is a quite good position as well. At the right turn at 21:33 it might see the text signs on the traffic light and associate those with no turn on red signs. It might understand that the signs mean something but can't yet distinguish them. It likely has a neuron that indicates if it's a no turn on red situation in its view. That it's a cityscape with more restrictions might also weigh on its judgment. It's like a wild animal trying to figure things out :)

@rvboondocker25594 ай бұрын
Also, you are being generous in using disengagement and interventions as two different categories. If it’s full self driving, then anything that you do is not full self driving regardless of if you change the direction at the last minute or anything like that. There’s no reason to be that generous. I am very critical when I take my car out because if I am supposed to be sitting in there as a passenger, then I reluctantly let it take longer or less efficient routes and don’t intervene or count that against it but anytime I have to step on the break or the pedal or change lanes, then it is a problem with the programming. I am on hardware 4 by the way.

I wish more FSD videos would test it as if this was an uber driver driving the car and not as a driving assist system. Basically, treat it as if you're in an uber - you'd never take over or jump out of an uber unless it was life threatening. A lot of the interventions/disengagement here are for convenience, not necessity. FSD demo drives should only take over when it's absalutely critical - even if it means missing an exit and taking a few minutes for FSD/Nav to figure out a new route. Same as an uber. This is the only way to asses (for you and for viewers) how close we are to Robotaxi (or unsupervised FSD). Thank you 🙏

I think this road trip is not fair. First, as the narrator says, most people never drive the underground streets in the Chicago loop. It is a kind of an alternate reality with unusual intersections. Second, you cannot actually drive down there and zip around on normal days. All the streets are filled with delivery trucks. Third, not clear that GPS works that well through massive concrete, and up above on all side you have very tall skyscapers which block GPS signals and navigation breaks down. Fourth, Tesla self-driving is learned from user experience. With almost nobody driving Teslas down there, the AI computers have no examples to learn from.
