Tesla FSD (12.6.3) Rainy Seattle Day

Driving around on a rainy day in Seattle testing Tesla's FSD V12..6.3. This was my first time on this new version, and it was boringly good, with just a couple moments where I had to encouragingly tap the accelerator button. Incredible to think my car that is a 2020 Model Y with HW3 is driving this well and continues to improve. What are your thoughts on the drive? Is Tesla ready to launch FSD/Cybercab/Robotaxi to the masses??

It just dawned on me that FSD could be configured by Tesla to offer an “orbit” option: it drops you off at your location, and instead of looking for parking, it drives around the block until you’re ready to leave, and then it comes back to retrieve you.

I honestly assumed that was a feature before I got my Tesla. I thought summon could drop me off & roam until it found a parking spot or until I summoned it. It’s totally capable already from my personal experience. It just needs to be ALLOWED.

For the windshield wipers, wipe them with a multi purpose cleaner or alcohol to rid the wipers of gunk or micro debris. If this doesn't work or stops working then you should replace them. You can replace the full wiper blade (more options for better quality wiper blade rubbers) or just the rubber part (cheaper, brand names usually not available). Depends on your preference.

Nice video. The 4k is just sharp enough to pause and read your location on the screen. I took my first drive under 12.6.3 in the same rain, heading north on Aurora. The navigation was programmed to make a right at Winona just north of Greenlake, and it dutifully waited until traffic cleared and started taking a free right against a red light, even though an easy-to-read sign said, 'no turn on red.' Otherwise it was a smooth, safe drive.

@@HyperChangeTV I have been saying this for a while: Tesla absolutely needs to database all the road signs and implement training to follow them! Each state literally has a book with all the signs, so the task is boring and tedious, but trivial. When you move to another state and get a new drivers license they make you read their book! So should Tesla as a driver. Unacceptable at this point for FSD to not adhere to the road signs.

Hey Gali, OK, I'll try more to use FSD WHEN TESLA decides to give it to me! I have a 2021 Model 3 with HW3 and I purchased the car with the optional FSD. I've tried to use it when v10.x came out, but it was a disaster. I'm constantly watching folks who have HW3 with your version and so far I'm kind of impressed. I'm up to v12.5.4.2 and I'm only hoping that Tesla upgrades the car soon. Btw, I like your last bit, "Boringly good..." Cheers!

You can try cleaning your wipers with WD40 and paper towel. Might solve your issues. If doesn’t work you’ll probably have to get new wipers.

Gali, for the wipers, use alcohol. Clean the blades with alcohol. When that stops working, you need new wipers.

I was just about to trade in my 21 MSP simply to get the new AI4 computer. Super happy he's going to upgrade for free all of us that purchased FSD outright, was 15k for my car when it was purchased. Personally I would have even been happy paying for an upgrade, I was cringing having to sell my car with 15k miles on it for such a tremendous loss when otherwise it performs flawlessly. Have a 10 year warranty on the vehicle and couldn't be happier with it. Also that hard situations you speak of is where HW4 shines over HW3. I finally got a chance to drive a HW4 car and it's significantly better then my HW3 on 12.6

I hope Tesla follows through the retrofit. HW4 really is good and the entire HW3 fleet are still good cars, they just need that last push in HW4 retrofit to make them 10 year cars.

Manual says to replace windshield wipers every year. Costco has Michelins for $7 It’s an easy DIY swap out comes with adapter to Match model Y blade.

Also to adjust assertiveness you can still swipe right thumb wheel when on controlled access roads 50mph+ but otherwise set the base case in autopilot menu settings. You can also swipe up down for max speeds

Hi, I have never owned a Tesla. I want to know in this case have you st a route or just a destination. Do you instruct the car to follow a specific route and is it all done manually onscreen. Or can the Tesla accept any verbal commands? Many thanks.

_Do you instruct the car to follow a specific route and is it all done manually onscreen._ You set the destination, either by voice command or virtual keyboard, and Tesla plots and follows the route to get there. I.e., press the right scroll wheel and say "Navigate to Steve's home", and it will set a route to Steve's home, if it's in your favorites list. You can also give a voice command to an address, even on the other side of the country; or any of these can be done onscreen, as well. If you don't like the route, you can add an intermediate point that forces the route to be what you want.
