19:40 - Do we know what is going on in the cleared area? It is a new road on that side of the highway, isn't it? Thanks for the great video.
@DarthHunter52 жыл бұрын
Yep, they're widening the existing road for more lanes
@martinstock2 жыл бұрын
The state road L38 will be widened from 2 to 4 lanes between the autobahn exit Freienbrink Süd and the crossing of the L38 with the L23. 4 lanes do not allow the same types of exits/crossing as 2 lanes in Germany. Thus the T-crossings serving currently Freienbrink real estate (south of the L38) and Tesla (north of it) will be changed to 2 X-crossings regulated by traffic lights. That's why they are building a new short road to serve Freienbrink real estate. The old one will be later removed. As Freienbrink real estate is in the first place a logistics hub, with big distribution centers of retailers (Lidl and Edeka) is has - like Tesla - also lots of incoming and outgoing lorries.

@@TeaMohn What is the weekend in Germany? Does not Saturday or Sunday fall into the weekend anyway, no matter on which day the video was filmed? For what it's worth, my my country Sunday is not on the weekend.
@DarthHunter52 жыл бұрын
@@dotancohen In Germany, the term "weekend" refers to Saturday and Sunday, with the week beginning on Monday. Whereas Saturday is an ordinary work day for many crafts (e.g. retail, transport), other sectors like office workers will typically have both days off. Only Sundays are firmly regulated. Retail has to be closed, truck transports are not allowed. As always, there are certain exceptions that require prior approval.

Those car transporters are not heading toward the autobahn, but in the opposite direction. You could reach the autobahn A12 towards Poland there via country roads. But also there exists a weekend ban for lorries. Exceptions of this in Europe are in first place countries that are no classical transit countries (Portugal, Scandinavian countries). And Germany is the mega transit country of Europe, as you can barely bypass it (Alps blocking the east-west routes south of Germany). Thus those car transports may just drive to somewhere nearby to wait for late Sunday evening. In Germany, there is only a driving ban on Saturdays during summer (school holidays). While there is everything done to equalize the long-distance traffic caused by the school holidays (like different periods for those in the various German states, this also coordinated with most neighboring countries and start dates mostly mid-week), those still put a lot of stress onto the autobahn networks. With traffic jams reaching 100+ km on school vacation weekends. Despite barely any lorries on the autobahns. Which on classical transit route often occupy 1-2 lanes. When Tesla will have finished its railyard this will be less of a problem. There is no such weekend ban on freight trains. And typically 50-60% of new cars are in Germany shipped by train.
